Hey birth workers in Van. Did you know Breech Without Borders is coming to the west coast! They still have some space and I would encourage you to register ASAP. This is an amazing opportunity to learn from these 2 heavy hitters in breech birth. Because not having training is a good enough excuse to not give pregnant people the opportunity to have their babies vaginally. Come take the workshop with me.

2023 is shaping up to be an exciting year and I’ve been craving simplicity and a way to represent my authentic self through my passion and art. As I step forward into this new chapter, I want to thank everyone for supporting me through all the years.

Oh, Hey! I’m not sure I’ve ever officially introduced myself on here, so I figured it might be time to say HELLO👋🏼, I’m Janice!
Birth-work has been my life over the last 10 years as I support growing families through all aspects of their reproductive journey’s.
This page is mostly a way for folks to get a hold of me, and from time to time, I might share some of my photos and have more things to say and share about the work I’m so passionate about.
If our paths have crossed (past client, colleagues) Please drop me a comment with an update on your family and tell me what’s something you are looking forward to in 2022.
If we haven’t met yet IRL, tell me what you’d like to see more of on here.
To find out more about me and my work, head on over to my website (link in bio).

Cut too soon…
Did you know that at the time of birth, 30% of the baby’s blood volume is still in it’s placenta? How do you think you would feel if you lost nearly 1/3rd of your blood volume?
Leaving the cord intact provides vital oxygen to your baby and allows for the baby to transition to it’s new surroundings and take their first breath when they are ready. It allows time for the baby’s blood in their placenta to go to the baby. It facilitates skin to skin (bonding) with the birther and this then leads to natural hormonal processing to be triggered.
Although in recent years, the medical model has for the most part moved away from immediately clamping and cutting the baby’s umbilical cord, 1-2 minutes is still not enough! Describing this very normal physiological process as “delayed” implies that there is something wrong, when in fact it’s actually how humans have been birthing for over 300,000 years, well before medical intervention had any say.
Want more info about what you can do to optimize the physiological 3rd stage and help your baby get all their blood?

Welcome sweet soul!
I guess it’s been a while since I’ve posted.
2021 has been a big year of transition, it has been a year filled with the full spectrum of emotions. In a way it feels like everything happened in a blink of an eye and yet it slowed down enough for reflection and integration. This year has been tough and yet it has filled my soul in many profound ways.
I’m always grateful and honoured to be welcomed into the birthing space. To witness the tremendous strength and courage it takes to bring new life, however they choose to arrive.
Thank you baby W for wrapping up my 2021 in such a beautiful and peaceful, for teaching me again about patience and stillness and for give me hope for the future.
Let’s all breathe deep and exhale! 💕
