70+ Municipalities. Hundreds of Candidates. One Goal: Building Strong Local Government.
Over the past several months, Clerks on Call has had the privilege of delivering Municipal Election Candidate Workshops for more than 70 municipalities across Ontario.
We've met with hundreds of prospective candidates, answered countless questions, and helped future members of Council better understand the realities of municipal governance, leadership, ethics, accountability, and public service.
A sincere thank you to the municipalities that trusted us to support this important part of the election process.
But as every Clerk knows, candidate education is only the beginning.
With Election Day fast approaching, our focus is now turning to Council Orientation and Council Readiness Training for newly elected and returning members of Council.
A strong orientation program helps set the tone for the entire term of Council by:
✔ Clarifying roles and responsibilities
✔ Strengthening Council-staff relationships
✔ Building confidence in legislative and governance responsibilities
✔ Supporting ethical and effective decision-making
✔ Creating a foundation for productive teamwork
Our customized orientation programs can include governance fundamentals, conflict of interest, codes of conduct, parliamentary procedure, strategic planning, team building, mock council meetings, and much more.
If your municipality is beginning to plan for post-election orientation, now is the time to start the conversation.
We look forward to helping Ontario municipalities build strong, informed, and effective councils for the 2026–2030 term.
