🚨 Gaslighting at Work: A Silent but Destructive Manipulation 🚨

Have you ever felt like a colleague or manager was making you doubt your own reality? That your successes were downplayed, facts were twisted, or you were made to feel incompetent despite doing your job well?

This is called workplace gaslighting, a psychological manipulation tactic that can deeply impact self-confidence and performance.

🔍 How to Recognize Gaslighting at Work?
1️⃣ Denying your actions or words: "You never sent that report."
2️⃣ Altering reality: "I never said that." (when you clearly remember it).
3️⃣ Isolating you: Excluding you from important meetings or decisions.
4️⃣ Making you feel incompetent: Assigning impossible tasks and blaming you for failure.
5️⃣ Shifting the rules without notice: Changing expectations after the fact to make you question yourself.

🚨 The Consequences for the Victim
➡️ Loss of confidence and increased stress.
➡️ Risk of burnout and anxiety.
➡️ Decreased motivation and workplace well-being.

🛡 How to Protect Yourself?
✔ Keep records: Save emails, messages, and notes to document facts.
✔ Check with trusted colleagues: Validate your memories with others.
✔ Set boundaries: Push back calmly but firmly against manipulation.
✔ Escalate to HR or leadership: If the situation becomes unmanageable.

Gaslighting is not always obvious, but by raising awareness and supporting one another, we can mitigate its harmful effects.

Starting a business is never smooth sailing. When I launched my coaching practice, I faced moments of self-doubt and financial strain. At one point, a key client unexpectedly canceled, leaving a gap in my revenue. Instead of panicking, I chose to see this as an opportunity to refine my services and build stronger client relationships. That setback pushed me to develop a more resilient business model. Today, that challenge feels like one of my greatest lessons.

My Take on Thanksgiving, from Someone Born in Europe

As someone born in Europe, Thanksgiving isn't part of my traditions, but it's a North American celebration I've come to appreciate. It offers us a day to reflect on what we're grateful for. Personally, I'm thankful for the people who've crossed my path. Good or bad, they were there for me to learn from and grow. Some of these people are no longer in my life, while others have been constants for a long time—and I'm grateful for both.

Looking back, I believe we live many "lives" within our lifetime, and we meet people who influence each of these phases. Sometimes it's just for a minute—a shared smile as you hold a door open. Other times, it's for much longer—family, friends, colleagues, clients, even you reading this on my social media account.

Occasionally, you might think a connection will last a lifetime, only to discover you were mistaken. Regardless, I try to approach all these experiences as opportunities for learning. If this message has reached you, I hope my humble reflections can contribute to your day of gratitude.
