Working triceps today at the gym.
I’ve made many, many course corrections, and decisions in my life. Not all of them good ones.
I’ve been exercising in one form or another for pretty much my entire adult life. Running, cycling, yoga, weight, training, etc.
I’d stick with it for a while but then something would come up that caused me to stop my routine and then life would get in the way.
I’m sure you know the story… Lol. Well, about 12 years ago I decided it was time to start back at the gym. This time I didn’t just start in hopes that I would continue, I made a commitment to stick with it, no matter what. And so I’ve been at it consistently for 12 years.
About five months ago, I developed an aggravated sciatica, and that caused me to rethink my decisions.
Have I done something wrong?
Did I actually harm my body rather than taking care of it? I always try to eat healthy and maintain good mental and emotional health as well. Did I screw things up somewhere along the way? Why is my body letting me down?
Well, the truth is, my body didn’t let me down. It did exactly what it was supposed to do. During those few months of physical challenges and constant pain, I talked to many people who experienced sciatica and for most of them, it lasted way more than three months and for some several years. I’ve been pain-free and medication free for over a month now. To say I’m grateful is an understatement. I was in constant pain, on pain meds, spending half the day lying on my back and wondering… What if this never goes away?
Well, I knew better than to think negative thoughts like that.
I started to change how I thought about where I was. It started thinking more positive, healing, healthy thoughts.
I decided to trust my body and the amazing healing powers that our minds and bodies have to overcome almost anything.
Not that it was easy by any means. Some days the pain was so intense I was moved to tears. But still I knew better. I had to trust and believe that I could get through this. And I did.
Did I do this alone?
Hell, no! I had the supportive family, friends, business colleagues, music, colleagues, pretty much everyone in my circle was sympathetic and supportive.
But through it all, no matter how difficult it was, it was my wife who stepped up as my caregiver, my Florence Nightingale.
Even while dealing with pain issues of her own, she was up and down the stairs, bringing me ice packs, food, medication, whatever I needed, she was there for me 100%.
So I stand here today in complete gratitude for the choices I’ve made, for my body’s determination to keep me healthy and fit, for the support of my friends and family and for my wife’s unconditional love.
I know this is cliché, but you know the saying “what doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger“. I can honestly say that I am a stronger and better person because of my experience.
Hats off to the millions of people who are dealing with health issues far worse than my sciatica. I have nothing but love, respect and gratitude for you.
You all know who you are. And I thank you for your inspiration.
Peace and love y’all.

My daily gratitude:
Morning, coffee.
It was so good I decided to have another one!
Just sitting on the back deck, soaking up this gorgeous sunshine and this beautiful weather.
Grateful to be surrounded by this little piece of paradise.
We chose this lot because we wanted to be surrounded by trees. Most of the trees on my property were here when we built our house. But over the years we planted about 15 trees on our own. All of which were just saplings when we got them and now they’re all fully matured. Feeling grateful for the power and beauty that nature provides us. It’s hard to feel anything but gratitude when you’re sitting out here surrounded by hundreds of trees many of them ones we planted ourselves.
Grateful to finally be journalling again after almost 20 years.
Gratitude, meditation and journalling are now part of my daily routine.
The gym takes care of my physical health, but the journaling, gratitude, and meditation look after my mental health.
It feels good to write down my thoughts, my intentions and my goals. Just the exercise of writing things down on paper is so powerful and effective.
I’m thankful that I’m moving in a direction that looks after my mind, my body and my soul.
It’s important to take time to focus on all the good things in life.
I have so much to be grateful for. Family, friends, our furry critters, clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, healthy food eat, a roof over our heads, warm bed to sleep in at night, and the list goes on.
Right now all I can think about is how good it feels to be sitting on my back deck, listening to the wind in the trees and soaking up the sunshine.
I think I’ll just leave it at that.
Thanks to all of you who Read watch and support my posts.
As always, if you feel inspired, please share your gratitude.
Remember to be fearless, grateful and have an absolutely fabulous day. You deserve it!
Peace and love.

My daily gratitude:
Morning coffee!
Another beautiful sunny day. I love how warm it is and it’s almost the end of August. That’s encouraging.
Still feeling gratitude from the success of my dad‘s celebration of life.
I’m still receiving comments on how wonderful it was, heartwarming, and how much fun everybody had.
Still feeling tons of gratitude for all who attended and all who landed a helping hand.
Grateful for my delicious hearty breakfast this morning. Steel cut oatmeal, banana and raisins.
Grateful that my wife has been offered several contracts for the work that she does. Super grateful that I have the ability to stay home, hold down the fort and care for the critters while she’s working out of the home. Grateful that I have a business that allows me to work from home and not have to worry about where my income is coming from.
Grateful for friends and family.
Grateful for my home and my backyard. So grateful I can just go on my back deck to sit and reflect, have my morning coffee, meditate in such a beautiful, peaceful, quiet space. Listening to the wind through the trees and the birds, his therapy for just about anything. Grateful for my new goals and for the ability to achieve and become whatever I desire. It’s wanting to think that, but to say it out loud is very powerful. It’s been a while few months, but I’m back on track and grateful and excited for my future.
Grateful for all of you who watch, read and support my posts. Thank you. Love you all.
Be sure to move through your day fearlessly and with gratitude and while you’re at it, make it a fabulous one. You deserve it!
