🌟 Big news for Alberta’s Early Childhood Educators! 🌟

The Government of Alberta and the federal government have just announced a $3.3 million investment to support childcare worker education. Through the Early Childhood Educator Bursary Program, up to 300 students will receive $10,000 to cover tuition, books, and some living expenses while completing approved childcare programs at Alberta post-secondary institutions.

💡 The bursary is paid in two parts:
✅ $5,000 when you’re accepted into an eligible program
✅ $5,000 once you complete your program, start working in licensed childcare, and gain Level 2 certification

This is a huge step toward strengthening our childcare workforce and ensuring Alberta families have access to quality care.

🚨 Childcare Update from the Alberta Government 🚨

Following a cabinet shuffle, Premier Danielle Smith has appointed Minister Demetrios Nicolaides as the new Minister of Education and Childcare.

This is important news for anyone in the early learning space. Having both portfolios under one minister could mean more alignment between childcare and education, and opportunities for stronger supports for providers, families, and children. 💡

With the government continuing to focus on affordability, access, and integrated services, now is the time to stay informed and engaged, especially with potential shifts in funding, licensing, or programming on the horizon.
