EDMONTON — The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating after a 59-year-old white man was shot and killed by police late Friday night, June 26, 2026.
The shooting followed a chaotic series of events in southwest Edmonton. Police say the suspect rammed a fire truck and two other vehicles, assaulting multiple people with a blunt object before fleeing.
Officers tracked the suspect vehicle to a residence on Christy Vista S.W. During the confrontation, the man emerged armed with edged weapons, prompting an officer to open fire. The suspect died at the scene. No emergency personnel were injured.

A Los Angeles woman dubbed the "Ketamine Queen" has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for selling drugs that led to the death of Friends actor Matthew Perry.

Jasveen Sangha, 42, pleaded guilty last September to five charges, including one count of distributing ketamine resulting in death or bodily injury.

Prosecutors described the American-British dual-national's North Hollywood home as a "drug-selling emporium" - selling a range of drugs to wealthy and well-connected clients.

Perry, who had struggled with addiction for years, was found dead in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home in October 2023. Investigators determined his death was caused by the acute effects of ketamine.

Peel Regional Police officially announced the results of Project Stratis on March 23, 2026. The investigation led to the arrest of six individuals who were allegedly involved in a violent carjacking ring targeting luxury vehicles across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) for export to Ghana.

The following six individuals have been charged with a combined 30 offences:
