I'm going to post this as professionally as possible. Feel free to interact and provide insight and comments if you'd like 😊 I encourage it.

No names, no personal details, and confidentiality is being honoured — just a necessary PSA about professional boundaries and what my service is and is not.

I recently had a client hire me to prepare documents. I completed the consultation and prepped everything based on the information provided — about 95% of the work has been done. The only step left was signing.

As always, I was clear about my role:
I do not give legal advice. I am not authorized to give legal advice. Documents are prepared based on answers to pre-prepared questions and anything complicated gets referred to any number of lawyers that I deal with and assist with contract work.

This is stated on my website, on my page, and is easily verified with a quick search.

When the client asked a question that required legal advice, I encouraged her to speak with a lawyer. I offered to provide several phone numbers for her. I even sent a publicly available article that directly addressed her question in the first paragraph. She refused to read it, accused me of being unprofessional, and continued messaging me repeatedly — including on a Saturday and again late Monday night — despite my clearly posted business hours and my request to respect them. My business phone was (until this happened over the weekend) my personal phone, and boundaries matter to me.

She is now threatening me and demanding a refund for work that has already been completed.

Let me be clear:
I do not tolerate threats. I do not negotiate with intimidation. I stand by my policies, my boundaries, and the work I’ve completed.

And for broader context:
99% of the negative interactions I experience — whether with clients or the general public — come down to one thing: boundaries.
Not my lack of them, but other people’s discomfort with them. When I state a policy, a limit, or a professional standard, some individuals decide they are entitled to all of my time, my labour, or an argument about what my policies “should” be and how I should run my business. That is not how I operate. It's not open for interpretation 🤷‍♀️

If you work with me, you get professionalism, clarity, and respect — and I expect the same in return. I think many small businesses are afraid to be so direct and open up about these issues and it's high time that we stop being afraid. I get to choose where I place my energy.

Good morning!

Most of you only know me as "professional" Nicole, so I'd really like to re-introduce myself professionally and personally!

I run this business solo, which means I’m the one answering emails, typing the important stuff, keeping the wheels turning, and occasionally reminding myself to drink water. I love what I do and I love helping my clients. Sometimes my to-do list is huge and I'm multi-tasking like crazy and sometimes I can make the time to chat about life for an extra half hour or so. Either way, I am always doing my best.

There are so many of you here that have been with me since the beginning and we've shared some pretty intense moments in life together, whether it be assisting with your divorce/separation, helping with Wills at a critical time in your lives or the lives of your loved ones and I'm honoured that you've chosen me to be there during these steps. Thank you.

Let me start by saying I’m a mom and parenting comes first, my time is intentional and my boundaries are real. I volunteer with multiple community organizations and love being in the community, I pay attention to world issues that matter, and put my energy where it can create change. I love watching sports, especially hockey and rugby, I go to the gym and lift to keep stress-free and strong, and when I get a rare quiet moment, I’m usually buried in a book.

I value honesty, self‑awareness, and friendships built on real connection, not convenience. My circle is small and fiercely important to me. Everything I show up for whether it's parenting, volunteering, work, business is done with intention and zero apology for protecting my peace. I don't really do anything in life halfway.

I’m serious about my boundaries. I don’t live in my inbox, I can’t respond at all hours, and I protect my time and family life so I can actually show up with a functioning brain when I’m working on your file. It’s not distance or coldness, it’s sustainability.

If you’re new here, welcome. If you’ve been around, thanks for trusting me with the big, meaningful pieces of your world. I’m here to make the process feel grounded, respectful, and as stress‑free as possible.

Doing good work, staying human, and keeping the vibes healthy, that’s my whole mission. I look forward to continuing to assist where I can with changes in your lives. If you have any questions about me, please post them and I'm happy to answer them!

Client and friends,

I woke up this morning to so much support from you guys in my inbox! Thank you!

Yes! Boundaries ARE very important when you're running small business alone! No, I don't need to work 24/7 to survive. My hours are my hours and my family and my mental health will always be my priorityI am grateful for every single client that hires me and supports me. Sometimes, once in a while, there comes someone who will be impossible to please no matter what happens. This person just wants someone to be angry at and it ends up being me. I refuse to take that on and be their "reason". I just won't.

I'm going to make a post in the next couple days and reintroduce myself and make myself seem a little more human to everyone so that going forward, we can really try to be a little bit kinder to each other.

Thanks everyone for the support ❤️ You're all the best!

Important Update to Communication Policies - Change of Business Phone Number to 587-416-2256 (Please Share)

To protect my time, energy, and ability to serve clients well, I’ve made some necessary updates to how I can be contacted.

Due to ongoing issues with communication boundaries not being respected outside hours and constant interruption of my personal time with unreasonable demands of my time, I have changed my business phone number. Effective immediately, I will no longer be accepting text messages as a form of communication.

All calls made during evenings and weekends will be automatically forwarded to voicemail, and I will return messages during my regular business hours.

These changes ensure I can continue providing high‑quality service while maintaining healthy, sustainable boundaries. I appreciate your understanding and cooperation as these updates take effect.
