As an immigrant, I've heard stories like this far too many times. This isn't just about Nigerians. It isn't just about one profession. It isn't just about one person.
It's about countless hardworking people in the diaspora who push themselves beyond their limits every single day to provide for their families, pay bills, support loved ones back home, and build a better future.
Sadly, many of these stories only make the news when it's already too late.
This isn't about judging anyone who works hard. Hard work is honorable. It's simply a reminder that our health, our families, and our lives matter too.
One thing this journey has taught me is the importance of having a Plan B.
Build something alongside your career.
Learn a skill.
Start a side business.
Create an additional stream of income that gives you options over time.
Not because you want to stop working tomorrow, but because you don't want to feel trapped into working endless hours just to survive.
That's exactly why I started building my digital business while working full-time. I didn't quit my career—I built it gradually. Over time, it gave me more flexibility and more time to take care of my health and focus on what matters most.
Life has no duplicate.
Money can be earned again.
Time cannot.
