💡 Why blast beaver dams instead of using heavy machinery?
When clearing obstructions from waterways, regulations normally require permits before any work begins. However, non‑mechanical methods such as explosives MAY qualify for exemptions — provided certain criteria are met. For example, if you’re not widening or deepening the original waterway, permits may not be required. Contact the Saskatchewan Water Security Agency to learn if controlled blasting is a viable option for your Beaver problems.

We’re getting great questions — including: “If I take your course, can I buy and use explosives whenever I want?”
Short answer: No. Passing our blasting course does not automatically permit you to purchase, possess, store, or use explosives. Canada regulates explosives closely.

If your goal is to be authorized to buy and use explosives legally, here are the usual steps:
1. Create an NRCan e-Services account.
2. Obtain a storage (magazine) licence from the Explosives Regulatory Division — this lets you lawfully store explosives in your own magazine.
3. If you don’t have your own magazine, you can apply for a shared license to store an allotted quantity in another licensed magazine. We plan to offer shared-storage arrangements to qualified clients who will use explosives legally and responsibly.
4. If you only need material for a single day, you may purchase only what you require — but NRCan still requires that you have a lawful storage solution in case you don’t use it.
5. Before we can transfer explosives to you, you must present one of the following documents:
• An authorization for explosives issued by Natural Resources Canada’s Explosives Regulatory Division.
• A valid Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) for fi****ms.
• A valid NEXUS card.

As a licensed vendor, we cannot sell explosives to anyone who does not hold a magazine licence or an approved shared licence.

Although process might seem daunting Cutarm energetics can assist in the licensing process.
