💡 Want to save on taxes? Make sure you’re doing it the right way.

There’s a big difference between tax planning, tax avoidance, and tax evasion.

✅ Tax Planning – Legally using eligible deductions, credits, and business expenses to reduce your tax bill.
⚠️ Tax Avoidance – Structuring transactions mainly to reduce tax, which may sometimes be challenged by CRA.
🚫 Tax Evasion – Hiding income, creating false expenses, or providing incorrect information. This is illegal.

The goal isn’t to hide income — it’s to understand the tax rules and make smart financial decisions.

📊 From Chaos to Clarity: A Bookkeeping Cleanup Story

Imagine opening your bookkeeping file and finding:

❌ Six months of uncategorized transactions
❌ Bank and credit-card accounts that have not been reconciled
❌ Receipts scattered across emails, folders and desks
❌ No clear idea of the business’s financial position

Now imagine the same records after a proper bookkeeping cleanup:

✅ Transactions accurately categorized
✅ Bank and credit-card accounts reconciled
✅ Receipts organized and properly documented
✅ Clear, up-to-date financial reports

This is a fictional scenario, but it reflects a situation many business owners experience.

Falling behind does not mean you have failed. It simply means it may be time to get organized and regain control of your books.

At Click2Biz Inc., we help businesses clean up overdue bookkeeping, organize financial records and build a reliable system going forward.

🚨 Business Owners: Is Your GST/HST Return Ready?

If your quarterly GST/HST reporting period ended on June 30, your filing and payment deadline may be July 31.

Before submitting your return, make sure:

✅ Your bank and credit-card accounts are reconciled
✅ All sales and GST/HST collected are recorded
✅ Missing receipts have been followed up
✅ Eligible business expenses and input tax credits are included
✅ Your GST/HST balance agrees with your bookkeeping records

A small bookkeeping mistake can result in paying too much, claiming the wrong amount, or having to correct the return later.

Not sure whether your books are ready?

Comment “GST” below or send us a message, and we’ll let you know what should be checked before filing.

Fellow bookkeepers and business owners—I’m curious how you handle this situation.

You come across a few bank or credit card transactions that appear to be genuine business expenses, but the receipts are missing. Maybe they were lost, never uploaded, or the business owner simply cannot find them.

What do you usually do?

Do you:

• Ask the client to contact the vendor and retrieve a copy?
• Look for an invoice in their email or online account?
• Request alternative supporting documents?
• Record the transaction based on the available information?
• Leave it uncategorized until proper documentation is received?

I have come across this situation many times while working with different clients, and I know every bookkeeper may have a slightly different process.

I would love to hear how other bookkeepers and business owners deal with missing receipts.

And if this is something you are struggling with in your own business, comment “RECEIPTS” below, and I’ll share a practical solution that may help.

A strange thing happens in business.

We make cold calls because we need clients.

We send messages because we need opportunities.

We follow up because we are trying to grow.

But when another business calls us to promote their service, our first reaction may be:

“Not interested.”

“I’m busy.”

“Why are they calling me?”

Sometimes, we may even feel annoyed.

It made me think about how often this happens in life.

We want people to support our business, but we may quickly ignore someone else trying to build theirs.

We want customers to give us a chance, but we may not always give another person even thirty seconds to explain what they offer.

We want people to understand our struggle, while forgetting that the person calling us may also be trying to pay bills, support a family, build a career, or keep a small business alive.

Of course, not every sales call is relevant. Some calls are poorly timed, too aggressive, or simply not useful.

But perhaps there is still room for kindness.

A polite “No, thank you” takes only a few seconds.

A helpful referral could change someone’s week.

And sometimes, the service we were ready to reject may actually solve a problem we have been ignoring.

Business teaches us more than sales and profit.

It teaches us patience, empathy, humility, and the importance of treating people the way we hope our own customers will treat us.

Business owners, be honest:

How do you feel when another business cold-calls you?

Do you feel annoyed, curious, understanding—or does it depend entirely on how they approach you?

Share your honest opinion below.

How much profit did your business actually make last month?

Not revenue. Not sales. Not the amount sitting in your bank account.

Your real profit tells you whether your business is growing, overspending, or simply staying busy without making enough money.

If you cannot answer confidently, your bookkeeping may need attention.

At Click2Biz Inc., we help business owners stay organized with:

✅ Monthly bookkeeping
✅ Bank reconciliations
✅ Financial reports
✅ GST/HST support
✅ Clear and accurate business records

Good decisions start with good numbers.
