☕ President Reflection - Friday, June 12 - Coffee & Connections ☕

It’s been a week since our June event at and , and it was my first event as the new Chapter President.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude and appreciation for the community I am so honoured to now lead.

Our theme for the day was a Summer Reset—reflecting on the past six months and aiming to make the upcoming months the best yet! 💛

The energy in that room was incredible! Not surprising, considering the atmosphere creates easily, and Sara is an amazing host! She really made sure the event had everything we needed. The room was also on fire because of the amazing, brilliant women doing incredible things.

I am so thankful to Melanie for the delicious spread she prepared and the elegant cake pucks with the FemCity logo, which added a special touch to my first event.

I have so much gratitude for .photo for the, as always, amazing photos she took to capture the day! I am so grateful for everything that you do, Erika!

We heard from about using colour, materials, and natural elements to make homes inviting. For me, working from home, a comfortable space boosts productivity and creativity. Amy’s tips were valuable—now I have an excuse to buy more plants!

We enjoyed a session with on preparing for holidays without disrupting business. It helped plan properly and maintain momentum. Jodi’s workshop was full of useful ideas and provided actionable steps I could implement immediately.

So, I invite you to take a look at your space, your schedule, your business—and ask: what needs to shift so the second half of this year feels good?

See you on July 10th when we do it all again!

A website should do one thing above everything else.

Make the right person feel like they've found exactly who they were looking for.

Head to matkophoto.com to see what we built together.

Ten pages. Fully responsive on mobile. Accessible and completely hers to manage — no developer needed, no confusing back end, no one to call when she wants to update her pricing.

This is what comes out of the Spark Package — a visual identity and website built together so everything feels like one cohesive thing, not two projects stitched side by side.

Starting at $7,200 CAD. Link in bio to learn more and book a call.

The logo gets the attention. The work that makes it last happens before anyone sees anything.

Before the colours. Before the fonts. Before the website. There's a conversation that changes everything else.

Three questions I ask at the start of every project:
👉 What do you want to be known for in ten years?
👉 Who is the woman searching for you at eleven o'clock at night?
👉 What won't you compromise on?

Skip those questions, and you get something that looks right but doesn't feel like you. And doesn't last.

Answer them honestly, and every design decision has a reason. Your colours, your fonts, the first line on your homepage. All of it is working toward the same thing.

That's the Diamond Blueprint. The part of the process nobody sees. And the reason 85% of my clients are still using their original visual identity five to ten years later without starting over.

There's a specific kind of confidence that comes from showing up to an event and knowing that everything representing your business looks exactly right.

Not just professional. Not just polished. Like you.

A client recently attended an event where she was standing alongside other sponsors and vendors. She had her pull-up banner. Her business cards. Her website is on her phone if anyone asks.

She told me afterward that for the first time, she felt like she actually belonged in that room. Not because anything had changed about her skills — those were never in question. But because the way she was showing up finally matched what she already knew to be true about her work.

That feeling is what I'm building toward with every project. Your logo, your colours, your website, your printed materials — all of it working together to say: this person is the real thing.

If you're heading into a busy event season and you're not feeling that way about your visual presence, let's talk.

Skipping strategy is the shortcut that costs you twice.

Maybe your cousin's friend knew how to code and built something quickly because you needed something up. It's been seven years, and you're still fighting against it.

Maybe you worked with a designer who jumped straight to the pretty stuff. It looked fine. You launched. Nothing changed.

Maybe you asked AI to build you a website. It technically works. It just doesn't feel like you—and you can't figure out how to fix it.

None of those are failures. They're all the same thing: something got built before anyone understood the problem.

The wrong inquiries keep coming in, and you hesitate before sharing your link. Something feels off, but you can't name it.

Two years later — sometimes seven — you're doing it all over again.

The Diamond Blueprint fixes that before a single design decision gets made. It's the strategic discovery process built into every Spark Package — because what gets built on the right foundation doesn't need to be rebuilt or Frankensteined into an unworkable, confusing mess.

Built right. Once. Link in bio to get started!

When .photo came to me ready to close the gap between the work she was doing and the way she was showing up online, we didn't start with colours or logos.

We started with questions.

💡What kind of work brings out your best?
💡Who is your ideal client, and what does she need to feel before she'll trust you with something that matters?
💡Where do you see this business in five years?

That's the Diamond Blueprint — the strategic discovery process that starts every Spark Package project. Because a logo made without that foundation is just decoration.

Here's what we built together once the strategy was in place:

✅A responsive logo suite that works across every context — from a website header to a pull-up banner at an event.
✅A complete colour palette and typography system.
✅A one-page visual reference guide to keep everything consistent.
✅Business cards.
✅A pull-up banner.
✅And a full ten-page Squarespace website, built to be accessible, compliant, and completely hers to manage.

That's the Spark Package. Brand identity and website, built together, starting at $7,200 CAD.

Not two separate projects stitched together. One cohesive process, from strategy to launch.

"Brand strategy" gets thrown around a lot. So let me tell you what it actually means in plain terms.

It's the thinking you do before anything gets designed.

It's answering questions like:

👉Who are you actually trying to reach, and what does she need to feel before she'll trust you enough to book?
👉What makes your practice different from the one down the street, in a way that has nothing to do with your services list?
👉What do you want someone to walk away thinking after they spend five minutes on your website?

Without answers to those questions, design is just decoration. It might look polished. It will probably fall flat in the real world.

With those answers, every decision — your colours, your fonts, the first sentence on your homepage, the image you choose for your business card — is working toward the same goal. Making the right person feel like they've found exactly who they were looking for.

That strategy layer is built into every project before a single design decision gets made. It's called the Diamond Blueprint, and it's the reason the work lasts.

Link in bio if you want to know what that process looks like for your practice.

It's common to start with whatever you can pull together quickly.

A logo made in Canva. A free website template. Colours that felt fine at the time.

And for a while, it works. Your skills carry you, and your clients come through referrals.

But there's a moment where the gap between how good you are and how you look online starts to show up in ways you can feel.

You hesitate before handing your card to someone.

You don't share your website link as confidently as you share your work.
photo was exactly there when we first talked. A talented photographer, busy, doing work she was proud of and a visual presence that didn't come close to reflecting any of it.

It's common to skip the strategy conversation.

Most designers jump straight to visuals because that's what clients are excited about. What you end up with are beautiful things that don't work. Polished. Flat in the real world. The problem was never the design. A solution got built before anyone understood the problem.

That gap is exactly why I work the way I do.

For health and wellness practitioners especially, the stakes are real. Most can't use client testimonials due to regulatory restrictions. So the brand has to carry that entire weight. The logo, the website, the words. They are the testimonial. That responsibility demands understanding the person behind the practice before a single design element is touched.

I had the honour of sitting down with to talk about what it actually looks like to build a brand that holds up over five to ten years, why visibility is one of the most overlooked equity issues in my industry, and why credentials are the floor, not the ceiling.

If you work in a high-trust field and your brand isn't doing the work it should be, this one's for you.

Before I design anything, I ask a lot of questions.

What made you choose this field? Who is the patient you think about when you are designing a new programme? What do your best clients say about you that you would never say about yourself?

Those conversations are not warm-up. They are the work. They are where the brand actually comes from.

I call this the Diamond Blueprint, and it is the foundation of everything we build at Broadbent Studio. The reason it matters is simple: you cannot design something that feels genuinely like someone until you actually understand them.

The practitioners who have been through it describe it as the first time someone really listened to what they were trying to build, not just what they needed to put on a website.

That is the starting point for every Spark Package.
