These are some of the most common questions we get from potential clients that have never worked with an archaeological consultant before.
In Ontario, consulting archaeology is a set of services provided to clients that relate to archaeological and cultural heritage concerns within the land-use planning, development and approvals process. Archaeological assessments are a provincially mandated requirement under the Ontario Planning Act, the Ontario Heritage Act and the Ontario Provincial Planning Statement. We conduct archaeological assessments to gauge a properties potential to yield archaeological resources, to identify and record any archaeological resources on a subject property and to determine the level of Cultural Heritage Value or Interest (CHVI) for identified archaeological resources.
