Blocked filters = poor performance.

It only takes about 20% blockage to start affecting your sprayer’s performance.

Clean them regularly, inspect for damage, and replace when needed. A few minutes of maintenance can prevent costly repairs down the road.

🔧 REPAIR CASE #0047 | GRACO 695 – MOTOR CONTROL BOARD REPLACEMENT

This Graco 695 first arrived displaying Code 2 – High Pressure Fault. Initial diagnostics pointed toward a failed pressure transducer, which was confirmed and replaced.

After installing the new transducer, the sprayer then displayed Code 3 – Electrical Fault, indicating there was a second issue hidden beneath the original fault.

From there, every component in the electrical system was systematically tested. After eliminating the wiring harness, sensors and related components, the motor control board was confirmed as the root cause.

Repairs Performed
✔ Replaced faulty pressure transducer
✔ Diagnosed Code 3 electrical fault
✔ Replaced motor control board
✔ Verified wiring and sensor operation
✔ Bench tested under load

The result? The sprayer powered up normally, built full pressure, and completed final testing with no active fault codes.

Sometimes fixing the first fault simply uncovers the next one. That’s why proper diagnostics matter.

🔧 REPAIR CASE #0046 | TITAN 440 – EPOXY RESIN DAMAGE

This Titan 440 arrived with severe performance issues after being used to spray epoxy resin.

Our inspection found cured epoxy throughout the fluid section, contamination in the prime valve and transducer, and packings that had failed under the harsh operating conditions.

Repair Summary:
✔ Complete machine teardown
✔ Removed cured epoxy contamination
✔ Cleaned transducer and prime valve
✔ Installed new packings
✔ Replaced fluid section
✔ Bench tested and pressure tested

This repair is a good reminder that epoxy products are extremely demanding on airless sprayers. Proper flushing immediately after use is essential to prevent cured material from damaging internal components.

Every machine that enters our shop is diagnosed, repaired, and tested before it goes back into service.

🔧 EVERY REPAIR TELLS A STORY - REPAIR CASE #0045

Customer Complaint: Graco 695 - Material leaking from the lower fluid section and unable to maintain pressure.

After a complete teardown, we found multiple underlying issues—not just a worn packing kit. The inlet sleeve had been installed upside down during a previous repair, the crank orientation was incorrect, and the packings had completely failed under high pressure, causing extensive damage.

Rather than replacing parts and hoping for the best, we corrected the root cause, rebuilt the fluid section, installed new components where required, and completed a full bench test.

Bench Test Results
✅ Primed correctly
✅ Built and held pressure
✅ Cycled successfully
✅ Leak free
✅ Returned to service

Seeing the Graco XM PFP systems in person was honestly on another level.

These aren’t your everyday paint sprayers. These rigs are designed for plural-component industrial coatings and passive fire protection materials, some of the heaviest, most demanding coatings used in the industry.

Dual Graco Check-Mate pumps, heated lines, precise ratio control, massive fluid delivery, and the capability to spray extremely high-build materials used for structural steel, marine, and industrial protection applications.

Some of these coatings can be applied at incredible thicknesses up to an inch thick compared to conventional coatings, which makes the engineering behind these systems pretty unbelievable to see up close.

These Graco King units are designed for high-pressure industrial coatings like epoxies, urethanes, protective coatings, fireproofing, tank coatings, heavy corrosion control and more.

This setup features a 70:1 ratio pump capable of producing up to 7000 PSI fluid pressure.

What does 70:1 mean?
For every 1 PSI of incoming air pressure, the pump multiplies it 70 times on the fluid side.

100 PSI air pressure = roughly 7000 PSI fluid pressure.

One thing many people overlook with these systems is AIR CONSUMPTION.

Large ratio pumps demand serious compressed air volume (CFM), especially under continuous spraying. Without adequate air supply:
• Pressure becomes inconsistent
• Spray patterns suffer
• Pumps can stall or surge
• Production slows down

These systems are built for demanding industrial environments where durability, pressure, and material handling matter more than portability.

After full diagnostics, we uncovered multiple issues:
• Gas-contaminated engine oil
• Carburetor problems

From the first flat tip guns of the late 1950s…
to the introduction of RAC tips, safety systems, contractor guns, and modern fine finish technology, seeing the evolution of Graco spray equipment in person was incredible…

Every generation solved a problem:
better control, safer operation, easier cleaning, improved finish quality, and more uptime for contractors in the field.

As a repair shop, it gives you a real appreciation for how far the industry has come and how much engineering goes into the spray tools painters rely on every day.

Really cool to walk through the history behind one of the most recognized names in spray equipment during my Master Service Training at Graco.
