The goal of AV Youth is to educate youth and those who have the ability to influence youth such as teachers, mentors, sports coaches, guidance counsellors, parents, etc. in the vast aspects of violence awareness, including conflict resolution, negotiation, anger management, compassion, stress management, de-escalation of violence, fear management (those afraid to ask for help), empathy, self-estee

m, the early signs of violence, and many more. AV Youth will provide the proper tools, techniques and life skills for youth to be able to access and use in their everyday lives.

Congratulations to Saukrates, Jully Black, and TOBi on their JUNO win. Saukrates took it back to 1995 and 2015 in his speech, reminding everyone that the journey is not always quick, but the impact lasts.

A frightening incident outside Rihanna’s Beverly Hills home. Police say a 35 year old woman was arrested after allegedly firing multiple shots at the property with an AR-15-style rifle. Marie Van Brittan Brown, was born October 30, 1922, in Jamaica, Queens, New York.

She was a nurse who married her husband, Albert L. Brown, an electronics technician, in 1949. They had two children, Albert Jr. and Norma. She was motivated to create the system due to high crime rates and slow police response times in her Queens neighbourhood. In 1966, with her husband’s assistance, she invented the “Home Security System Utilizing Television Surveillance.”

The system used a closed-circuit television, a monitor, and two-way communication to allow homeowners to see and speak with visitors before opening the door. The patent was also filed in 1966 and granted in 1969.

Her invention laid the foundation for today’s home security industry, influencing modern video doorbells, smart locks, and automation systems. Despite facing challenges as an African American woman in the male-dominated tech field of the 1960s, Brown broke barriers and is recognized as a STEM pioneer.

She passed away on February 2, 1999, at the age of 76.
