Cavan Monaghan is the kind of place that feels proudly “country,” but still connected.

It sits in Peterborough County, just southwest of Peterborough, with rolling farmland, small hamlets, and Millbrook as the main hub — the kind of community where people wave, neighbours know each other, and storms don’t wait for a convenient time.

✅️ A quick snapshot of Cavan Monaghan
Population: 10,016 (2021 Census).
Four real seasons: Winters here are the real deal, and summers can get warm and humid. Climate averages around the area show January highs around 27°F (-3°C) and July highs around 80°F (27°C), with steady precipitation through the year.

✅️ Where the name comes from
The township’s name is a nod to its roots. “Cavan” and “Monaghan” were named after County Cavan and County Monaghan in Ireland, reflecting the Irish settlers who helped shape the area in the early days.

✅️ A few historical notes (the “you can feel it” history)
The original townships were surveyed in 1817 (early settlement era in Ontario).
Millbrook’s story goes back to 1816, when the first sawmill was built — and it grew into a busy little place over time.
In 1875, Millbrook had a major event locals still talk about — “The Great Fire” that destroyed much of the downtown core and pushed the community to rebuild.

The modern township took shape on January 1, 1998, when the areas were amalgamated (and later shortened/renamed to Cavan Monaghan).

🔧 Our latest installation in Cavan Monaghan
We recently completed a new standby generator installation here, and it felt like a perfect match for the area. In places with open roads, bigger properties, and weather that can turn quickly, backup power isn’t just a “nice upgrade” — it’s the comfort of knowing your home stays steady when the grid doesn’t.
No scrambling for flashlights.
No worrying about heat, sump pumps, freezers, Wi-Fi, or the basics.
Just a home that keeps running.
Big thanks to the homeowner in Cavan Monaghan for trusting Platinum with the job 🙌

This installation is a great example of why backup power is not a one-size-fits-all service.

Every home is different. Every property has different limitations.

And the right generator system should be designed around those realities.

Whether you are in the city, on a rural property, or somewhere where fuel options are limited, Platinum can help you find the right standby power solution for your home.

Chesterville might be a small community, but it’s got that real “Ontario countryside” charm — open roads, tight-knit neighbours, and homes where you actually feel the quiet.

That’s why we were excited to wrap up a new standby generator installation in Chesterville, Ontario ✅⚡️

A good backup plan starts with the essentials: heat, sump pump, fridge, freezer, lighting, Wi-Fi, medical needs, and comfort during longer outages.

East Gwillimbury is one of those places that still feels “Ontario” in the best way — wide open roads, big skies, and nature everywhere… but you’re still minutes from Newmarket and the 404. Fun fact: it’s home to the Holland Marsh, often called Ontario’s vegetable basket because so much local produce comes from there.

We just finished a new standby generator installation right here in East Gwillimbury, and it’s the kind of upgrade that quietly makes life easier. No drama, no running around when the power drops — the home stays comfortable and the essentials keep going.

Heat. Fridge. Wi-Fi. Sump pump. Lights.
The stuff you don’t want to lose when the weather turns.
Big thanks to the homeowner for trusting Platinum with the job 🙌

If you’re in East Gwillimbury and you’ve been thinking about backup power, send us a message anytime. Happy to answer questions and help you figure out what setup actually makes sense for your home — no pressure.

6 Interesting Facts About Toronto’s Power Supply History ⚡️

Toronto’s skyline, homes, businesses, transit, industry, and everyday life all depend on one thing we often take for granted: reliable electricity.

But Toronto’s power story didn’t happen overnight.

What started as a luxury for downtown businesses and wealthier homes eventually became one of the foundations of modern life in Toronto.
