You don’t get lucky.

You make your luck.

There are 3 ways to increase your odds of luck:

1. Do, repeatedly. Try, then iterate.

2. Be consistent. Resist the urge to give up.

3. Gain knowledge. Invest in yourself.

The cheat code isn't complicated. Most people just won't do it.

One of the coolest things about this “little thing” I’ve been doing (sarcasm—it’s a big deal!) is getting to learn even more about my own family. I love this clip from my aunt, Barbara Carter, sharing the impact of her work as an instructor.

But seriously—how cool is it that I get to interview my own family members? I did, however, forget to press record for the first 30 minutes of our conversation (and it was a juicy one!). It was definitely a little awkward trying to revisit the same conversation, but we had fun with it. My first time forgetting to hit record—and hopefully my last!

I might have mentioned in the company that my aunt said I was her favourite niece/nephew—which I completely made up in joking fun. I’ll absolutely use my platform to joke around and make people laugh whenever I get the chance! The sarcasm in our family runs deep.

It’s been such a pleasure chatting with I’ve known for years, others I’ve just met, and some I’m meeting for the very first time. Each has a story that helps build and . Holding space for educators from around the world to share their experiences and celebrate their voices is truly one of the greatest joys of my life.

We’re so grateful for your support—please like, share, and subscribe! And if you’re feeling extra generous, leave us a 5-star review ⭐️

Boom.

And just like that—I’ve completed my Master of Management in Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the Smith School of Business at Queen's University

I didn’t choose this program by accident. I chose it because it put me shoulder to shoulder with world-changers—people building businesses, launching movements, and driving ideas that actually make an impact. People who aren’t afraid to shake things up. People just like me.

When I walked into this program, I walked in with purpose. My three goals were crystal clear:

1. Build a Powerhouse Network of World-Changers

2. Bring My Business to Life—with Strategy and Support

3. Stop Playing Small and Go All In

Mission: Accomplished.

I’ve been in full-time school for the better part of the last six years—while also building businesses, managing family chaos, teaching, and pushing every limit I could find. And now? I’m officially on a “school” break.

Will I pursue my ?

Absolutely. Until then, I’ll continue the new journey—digging into what truly supports, sustains, and empowers new faculty in post-secondary education.

But for now? I’m focusing on two things:

💥 World domination (obviously)

💉 Refilling the Botox fund (school be expensive y'all!)

Although let’s be honest—I’ll probably bang out another Master’s program in the meantime, likely something rooted in social justice. My brain craves connection, big ideas, and the kind of critical thinking that sparks real change alongside people who are equally committed to making a difference.

That’s just how my mind works: one minute I’d rather eat my shoe than do another semester… and the next, after a short break, I’m like OMG, I need to go back to school immediately. I thrive on stimulation, knowledge, and meaningful connection.

But seriously—I do need a break

My academic path hasn’t been traditional—and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I’ve always viewed education as more than grades and credentials. To me, it’s a launchpad for transformation, collaboration, and creation. It’s where bold ideas are born, relationships are built, and real-world change takes shape.

And no, I won’t be posting my grad photo (unless we’re running a “caption this” contest—because wow – ya, no). What I will be sharing are the businesses, stories, and genius ideas of my peers—because I believe in them, and I’ll always show up for them.

A huge thank you to the professors, program staff, my incredible advisor Nadia Bonenfant, and my cohort—you’ve challenged me, cheered me on, and reminded me exactly why I do what I do.

Here’s to what’s next 🥂

🌿 Season Finale: A Conversation Close to My Heart 🎙️

As we wrap up Season 1 of The Educator Experience Podcast, I’m deeply honoured to share a conversation with someone I have the utmost respect and admiration for—Jo Ann Buffalo.

I first met Jo Ann while facilitating a program with Okanagan College, and from the very beginning, her unwavering dedication to education and her community stood out. Her stories, her presence, and her passion left a lasting impression on me—and I feel incredibly lucky to now share part of her story with you.

In this episode, Jo Ann offers a powerful Indigenous perspective on truth and reconciliation in education. With courage and care, she speaks about reconnecting Indigenous learners with cultural knowledge that was once hidden or silenced by residential schools.

She brings forward wisdom from her work in the Tk’emlúps territory—highlighting the importance of culturally grounded programming, the role of Elders and cultural workers, and how we, as educators, can hold space for meaningful dialogue through circle talks.

This conversation is a reminder that reconciliation begins with listening—with our hearts open and our assumptions set aside.

🎧 Tune in to this moving and necessary conversation. I’m so proud to share Jo Ann’s voice with you.

I absolutely loved this insightful conversation with Steve Newton, who shared his incredible work at the intersection of emergency management and gamification. His approach to using technology to simulate real-world crisis response scenarios is not only innovative—it’s changing how teams train, prepare, and lead in high-stakes situations.

I first met Steve—better known to many as Newt—at an AI workshop at Thompson Rivers University, where we were both exploring emerging technologies and their potential in education and applied fields. From the moment we connected, I was struck by his deep commitment to public safety, his openness to experimenting with new tools, and the clear passion he brings to every project he touches.

If you’re curious about how game-based learning can drive real impact—or just want to hear from someone who’s pushing boundaries in an essential and evolving field—this episode is a must-listen.

Who hasn’t gotten frustrated when students keep their cameras off or seem disengaged?!

Love this powerful conversation with Chantale Hutchinson that explores how unconscious bias can show up in our classrooms—and what we can do about it.

Chantale invites us to pause, lean into empathy, and ask ourselves what might really be going on. She offers thoughtful, practical ways we can respond with curiosity instead of judgment—and begin building deeper connection with our learners.

This conversation made me reflect on the moments I could create in the future—ones rooted in understanding, not assumptions.

🚨 Coming This Summer: A Course Suite for New Educators 🎓

We’re so excited to be launching a brand-new suite of e-courses designed to support new post-secondary educators as they bridge the gap between getting hired and stepping into their first classroom.

Our research (and lived experience!) shows that there’s a massive gap in support during this transition—one that often leaves new instructors to sink or swim. The result? Overwhelm, burnout, and a lack of confidence right when they need support the most.

But it doesn't have to be like this.

I founded Educator Experiences to walk alongside educators in their journey—to make sure no one has to figure it all out alone. This upcoming course suite covers everything from lesson planning to institutional policies, assessments, wellness, and more. It's practical, supportive, and built to give new instructors the tools and confidence they need to start strong.
