U.S. TARIFFS: WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR KAMLOOPS BUSINESSES? 🇨🇦🇺🇸

Trade tensions between Canada and the United States are creating uncertainty for businesses across B.C., and the impacts may reach further than businesses that export directly to the U.S.

With 50% U.S. tariffs now in effect on roughly $27 billion CAD of Canadian goods, sectors including forestry, manufacturing, agriculture, construction and others may be affected.

But tariffs can also impact businesses that rely on U.S. suppliers, equipment or materials, or that work with customers and suppliers facing increased costs or disruptions.

📣 We want to hear from you.

The Kamloops & District Chamber of Commerce has launched a short survey to better understand:

📈 How tariffs are affecting your costs
🚚 Supply chain or supplier challenges
💼 Impacts on your business or customers
🤝 What support would be most useful

Your feedback will help us strengthen our local advocacy and share the Kamloops business perspective with the BC Chamber of Commerce and Canadian Chamber of Commerce as they work with government on the response.

Even if you’re not sure how tariffs will affect your business yet, we want to hear from you.

Such a great day of connection, collaboration and learning! 🤝 We loved bringing our Chamber hive minds together. So many great ideas and conversations to take back to our teams, already looking forward to the next one! 💙

On Friday, our staff spent the day connecting with our Chamber colleagues from the Kamloops & District Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce for a Thompson Okanagan Chamber Pro-D Day.

One of the most valuable parts of the day was getting to connect role-to-role with staff doing similar work across our three Chambers. Working in the Chamber world comes with some pretty unique challenges, so having the chance to put our collective hive mind to work, share experiences and talk through some of those nagging issues was time well spent.

It was also a chance to celebrate what's working. Now that we're more than halfway through the year, we took some time to reflect on our wins, share what's been successful and talk about how we can carry that momentum through the rest of 2026. Hearing what's working at other Chambers also gave us plenty of new ideas to bring back to our own teams.

There's a lot we can learn from people who understand the work we do because they're doing it too.

Let this be your sign to connect with others in your industry, share what's working and work together to make your community a better place to live and do business.

Congratulations, Logan! And thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate. 🏆💙
