Organize With Ochelle "Organizing is a journey, not a destination." I'm here to be your Personal Organizing Guide! HI, I’M OCHELLE BALLER. Life is a journey, and so is organizing.

I am excited to be your personal organizing guide! As life changes from one season to another, so does your organizing journey. When I was young, I followed whatever my family taught me to do. I grew up where everything needed to be kept tidy and organized. Believe it or not, we each had our own plate, cup, fork, spoon, etc. You use it, you clean it. Each item has its own place. We moved multiple

times, but the same rule was applied in every house we moved into. From a hut in the mountain to a restaurant and house combo in the city to a two-storey house with a bakery at the back in a small town. By the time I was kicked out of the house, I felt free to do whatever I wanted. However, unknowingly, I was doing what I had learned growing up. Clean as you go. Put things back where they belong. Fast forward to 2009, I married a Canadian man, so I, together with my cute and energetic six-year-old daughter, packed our belongings and crossed continents and countries to be with my beloved husband. I was originally from the Pearl of The Orient - the Philippines. Marriage life entails adapting to each other. Since we came together as a blended family, we all had different organizing personality traits and styles. In the beginning, it was a rough journey. My daily anthem was: “Why can’t you just put your dirty clothes in the laundry basket?” Why can’t you put the cup in the sink or dishwasher?” Sounds familiar? Well, it took some years before I realized that we needed to adapt an organizing system that works for all of us. As I said earlier, organizing is a journey. As you go through different stages and seasons of life, you will learn what organizing system works best for your current lifestyle. I have been through it all, so I understand. I am here to be your personal organizing guide! Friend, let’s begin your organizing journey!

You might ask, what is Macro Organizing, Ochelle?

Macro organizing is a ‘good enough’ approach in which you only sort your items by large, broad categories. You may use containers or create zones to corral your belongings.

For example, if you are sorting your kid’s arts and craft supplies, you can create zones first to determine the broad categories like painting, drawing, paper crafts, play dogs, etc.

Friend, if you have not organized a space for a long time, then begin with macro organizing!

To my bus mom friends, trust me this is very doable for you!

What Matters Most is You Are Doing It!

Friend, don’t let perfectionism holds you back from starting or continuing your organizing journey. Don’t be a messy perfectionist!

Give yourself permission to do something less than perfect. Just do something!

Clean the food off the counter after breakfast.

Sort your mail pile.

Declutter the top drawer of your night table.

Letting go of perfectionism is the first step of getting organized!

Done is better than perfect, don’t you agree?

✨ Friends, do you know what’s your organizing style?

✨ Cass at ClutterBug founded the idea that there are four organizing styles.

🐝 Bees are very visual. They love to see their unfinished works. They usually have several projects going on simultaneously. Often, they leave these projects out, believing they will come back to finish them. They really like to hold on to stuff and think everything will have a future benefit. Open shelving with clear containers is typically the best option for bees.

🦗 Crickets are perfectionists. Unfortunately, they often don't have the time to perfectly organize so sometimes they end up not organizing at all. They prefer minimal clutter and they love to micro-organize everything. Hidden and very meticulous organization is their vibe! Crickets prefer visual simplicity on the outside.

🦋 Butterflies are incredibly visual! If it is out of sight, it is out of mind and might as well not exist. They love to have quick and easy access to the things they love the most. They are not detail oriented in organizing and they fear forgetting what they have.

🐞 Ladybugs are beautiful on the outside, but struggle to not be messy on the inside. They are stressed out by surface clutter so they tend to have junk drawers to keep their mess hidden. They struggle to find the time to maintain a daily organizing system that requires time and effort.

✨ Are you a 🐝? 🦗? 🦋 ? Or a 🐞?
