Eight years of Thistle & Thorne. 🤍
Eight years ago, I don’t think I could have imagined just how many places this little business would take me, or how many incredible people I’d get to meet along the way.
Over the years, weddings and this industry have taken us across BC — from Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands to the Sunshine Coast, Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton — into the mountains of Nordegg, Alberta, across the country to Montréal, and beyond Canada to Barbados, Jamaica and Costa Rica.
There have been planes, ferries, road trips, new venues, new collaborations, new friendships, and a whole lot of moments where I’ve thought, “Wait… this is my JOB?!”
And August has another pretty special Thistle & Thorne milestone attached to it.
Five years ago, on our third anniversary, Destinye and I worked our very first wedding together.
Five years later, we’ve travelled, planned, problem-solved, laughed a LOT, and brought some pretty incredible celebrations to life together. Watching Thistle & Thorne grow into a team — and watching the people behind it find their own place within it — has been one of my favourite parts of this whole adventure.
When I look through the clips from the last 365 days, I don’t just see pretty weddings and beautiful places.
I see the early mornings. The venue walks. The spreadsheets. The airport runs. The ferry rides. The last-minute pivots. The inside jokes. And the people who trusted us with some of the biggest days of their lives.
Eight years in, and this little business has become so much bigger than I ever imagined.
To our clients, our vendor friends, our team, and everyone who has cheered us on, referred us, collaborated with us, travelled with us, trusted us, or followed along from the sidelines — thank you for being part of it.
Here’s to year nine. I have a feeling she’s going to be a good one. 🥂
