With the surprise in weather today the water/ice related training was very realistic for the scenario based skills and competencies for Lloydminster Fire Rescue Team.

The training helps to respond safely and effectively during water and ice-related emergencies.

Great work by the team in dealing with the weather challenges today that added an extra layer in the scenarios and skill assessments.

Training will continue at this location for a few more sessions this month.

Doing the right thing pays off!

The Positive Ticketing Program is back, celebrating residents who make positive choices like helping a neighbour, wearing safety gear, or using crosswalks properly.

Lloydminster’s Peace Officers, Bylaw Officers, Lloydminster Fire Rescue Firefighters, and Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Alberta (Lloydminster Detachment) are recognizing these actions and rewarding recipients with a small prize from participating businesses, including several new local partners this year.

Keep up the good work and keep an eye out for your local first responders – you might just receive the best kind of ticket!

This past weekend 12 members of Lloydminster Fire Rescue were trained and certified in Ice water rescue- the students encountered some chilly temperatures during the practical training scenarios of rescuing someone who has fallen through the ice - the weather and cold water brought realism to the training. Thank you to Trans-Care Rescue Ltd. for working with the students this weekend providing them the competency and certification.

Lloydminster Fire Rescue is the sole provider of all rescue services within the City of Lloydminster - this includes water, ice rescue and motor vehicle collisions responses for residents, businesses and visitors to our community.

All Fire Rescue services and training is supported through the annual Lloydminster fire rescue operational budget.

Remember to stay off the storm water ponds as the weather is changing as spring approaches- if you see someone in the water call 911 immediately - keep a visual on their location and wait for Emergency services to arrive.

Lloydminster Fire Rescue 2025 fall recruit class completed their NFPA 1001- Level 1 practical testing today at the Lamont County Emergency Services training centre. - Many months of study, practical skills and certification testing as part of this journey - to be noted this class has probably had some of the coldest weather during their practical training but was always willing to be engaged in the training.

We are looking forward to this class of recruits participating in their next stages of certification and progression within Lloydminster Fire Rescue.

Great work by all involved students and instructors-providing a competent and certified team to serve the community of Lloydminster.
