Nobody told me building something for myself could look like this.

This morning looks pretty exciting…

Coffee. A few messages that came in overnight. A couple of follow-ups. A quick check-in with people I’ve connected with.

Later this afternoon, I have a coaching conversation booked with someone who’s exploring what’s possible for their next chapter.

And in between?

Life.

My granddaughter is coming over later, and I’d much rather spend my afternoon making memories than sitting behind a screen for hours.

That’s one of the reasons I chose this path.

I wasn’t looking for another job.

I was looking for another option.

Something I could build in the pockets of my life.

A little time before work.
A couple hours on a weekend.
A few moments with my coffee.

The systems work while I sleep.
The conversations happen when I have time.
And life still gets to be life.

That’s what I love most about what I’m building.

At what age were you supposed to stop dreaming?

Because I’m 51, and some of the most exciting things I’ve ever built are happening right now.

A new home.
New goals.
New opportunities.
New dreams.

Somewhere along the way, many of us were taught that there’s a deadline on growth.

I don’t believe that.

Maybe you’re not behind.

Maybe you’re exactly where you need to be.

And maybe the next chapter is still waiting for you to say yes to it.

I used to think there would come a point where everything would be finished.

Career figured out.
Home figured out.
Future figured out.

But life doesn’t seem to work that way.

At 51, I’m still growing.

Still learning.

Still planting things.

Still creating a home I love.

Still taking chances on ideas that excite me.

Still building a life with more freedom, more purpose, and more intention.

And honestly?

I think that’s the best part.

Because growth doesn’t have an expiration date.

Neither do dreams.

Nobody warns you that grandchildren are basically tiny personal trainers.🥵

I started the day thinking I’d get some work done around the house, maybe tackle the garden and check a few things off my list.

Instead, I spent the day chasing my granddaughter 🤍 around the park, pushing a stroller, keeping up with playground adventures, and wondering where all that energy comes from.

The weeds are still waiting.

The laundry is still waiting.

My to-do list is definitely still waiting.

But these days? They don’t wait forever.

And I’d choose the park every single time. ❤️

I don’t think I’m the same woman who started this year.

Five months ago, I couldn’t have told you what life would look like today.

Since then, I’ve packed boxes, unpacked dreams, closed chapters, opened new doors, and learned that growth rarely happens all at once.

Sometimes it happens one brave decision at a time.

As a Gen X woman, an empty nester, a grandmother, and someone intentionally designing the next chapter of her life, I’ve learned that new beginnings don’t always arrive with fireworks.

Sometimes they arrive quietly.

In a new home.
A different view.
A sunset that reminds you how far you’ve come.

And for the record… no filter was used on this sunset.

Not because everything is perfect.

Not because every dream has come true.

But because somewhere along the way, you stopped surviving and started creating.

Tonight was pizza, conversation, and a peaceful Friday night in my new home.

Nothing extraordinary.

And somehow, everything.

One week ago, this place was empty.

Just walls, boxes, and a vision of what I hoped it would become.

Over the last seven days, I’ve unpacked, organized, decorated, laughed, sweat a little, and probably consumed an unreasonable amount of coffee. ☕️

What I’ve been reminded of is that building a home isn’t all that different from building a life.

It happens one decision at a time.
One box at a time.
One small step at a time.

Still a few things left to do, but it’s finally starting to feel like mine. ❤️

$49 shouldn’t feel this important…
but somehow it does.

Are you $49 richer this week?

Check your bank account… you might be.

The Canadian bread settlement payouts started landing in people’s accounts this past week, and honestly, it made me stop and think.

Not because $49 changes anyone’s life.

But because it says a lot about how expensive everyday life has become right now.

Groceries.
Housing.
Bills.
Just… life.

And I think a lot of people, especially people in their 40s and 50s, are quietly realizing they want more breathing room.

More flexibility.
More peace.
More options.

That realization is actually what made me start looking for something different about a year ago.

I still work.
I’m still building.
I’m still learning.

But I’m really glad I listened to that little voice telling me there had to be another way too.

What should I name him? 😂🐸

I saw this little guy before I even moved into the house, then he disappeared for weeks. Turns out he lives under my back porch now.

And yes… I absolutely googled the spiritual meaning of a toad because apparently that’s who I am now 😂

Transformation. Healing. Grounding. New beginnings.

Honestly? Felt weirdly fitting for this season of life.

Anyway… what are we naming my porch toad?

“How are people making money online?”

That was my question last year.

Because from the outside, it honestly looked confusing.

I’d see women in their 50s building businesses from their phones, creating flexibility, talking about freedom, traveling more, working differently… and I genuinely didn’t understand how it all worked.

Meanwhile, I was doing what I’d always done:
working hard,
being responsible,
building the career,
showing up,
pushing through.

And even then…
I still couldn’t picture myself retiring comfortably one day.

That realization changed something in me.

So instead of judging it, I started researching it.

What I found completely changed my perspective on what’s possible for this stage of life.

Not overnight success.
Not magic.
Not “get rich quick.”

Just a different model.
Different skills.
Different possibilities.

And now?

I can’t unsee it.
