🔥 Mackenzie, let's work together to become more FireSmart! 🌲

Living in a forested community means we're surrounded by incredible natural beauty—but it also means we all have a role to play in reducing wildfire risk.

Simple actions around your home can make a big difference:
🏡 Clear leaves, needles, and other debris from your roof, gutters, and decks.
🌿 Keep grass cut short and remove dead or dry vegetation.
🪵 Store firewood, propane tanks, and other combustible materials at least 10 metres (30 feet) from your home whenever possible.
🌲 Prune tree branches and maintain healthy spacing between trees and shrubs.
🚒 Ensure your civic address is clearly visible for emergency responders.

Every property that becomes more FireSmart helps strengthen the safety and resilience of our entire Mackenzie community.

Let's all do our part to help protect our homes, our neighbours, and the place we call home.

Learn more about FireSmart practices and available local resources by reaching out to your Mackenzie FireSmart Representative or visiting FireSmart BC.

Combustibles don’t always look like the obvious culprits. Plastic patio furniture and toys (or even paddleboards) stored next to the house also pose a risk during wildfire season.

Spend a few minutes moving combustibles at least 10 metres away from your home. It’s a small step that could make a big difference.

Once you’re FireSmart, you can’t unsee the risks.

Messy gutters, combustible materials stored next to the house, and flammable vegetation all put your house at risk during wildfire season.

Luckily, you can FireSmart your property in a few simple steps:

🍁 Clear leaves and debris from your gutters
🧯 Store flammable materials at least 10 metres from your home
🪴 Swap combustible plants for fire-resistant vegetation.
