Our hearts are with the Tla’amin Nation, the families, friends, and all those affected by the tragic marine incident near Savary Island that claimed multiple lives this week.

On behalf of QXMC and all Subsidiaries, we extend our deepest condolences to everyone grieving this devastating loss. Coastal communities and First Nations share a profound connection to the ocean, it is part of the way of life, the culture, the livelihoods, and the history. When tragedy strikes on the water, it is felt deeply throughout all communities.

Today, however, our focus is simply on standing beside the Tla’amin Nation and all affected families and communities during this difficult time. We also acknowledge and thank the first responders, search crews, and community members who assisted in the response efforts.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those impacted.

We’re pleased to see Ben Lessard join the Commercial Bear Viewing Association Board of Directors as the second Guide Representative.

Ben joins the Board from Klahoose Coastal Adventures and is a member of the Klahoose First Nation. He brings extensive, hands on experience as a bear viewing guide, having worked in Toba Inlet within Klahoose territory since 2016. His deep understanding of bear behaviour, guest experience, and the realities of guiding on the land and water will be a valuable addition to Board discussions and decision making.

As the CBVA continues to strengthen guide representation, Ben’s perspective helps ensure the voices of those working directly in the field are reflected.

We look forward to his contributions in this role. 🐻
