Grizzly season is here 🐻🌿

We’re excited to see this new Grizzly Getaway featured by TravelPulse Canada, bringing guests from Campbell River into the spectacular inlets of the BC coast.

Through our partners at Campbell River Whale Watching & Adventure Tours, guests can experience grizzly bear viewing in Toba Inlet, within Klahoose First Nation Territory, or Bute Inlet within the Homalco First Nation Territory alongside experienced Indigenous guides.

It’s a wonderful example of tourism partnerships connecting visitors with the lands, waters, wildlife and Indigenous cultures of this coast.

Today in Squirrel Cove! Everyone is welcome to join the Klahoose First Nation open house from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at ʔayɛs ta t̓oq qayɛmɩxʷ, 1740 Tork Road.

The afternoon will include refreshments, guest speakers, a cultural presentation, and the launch of the Klahoose Heritage Committee.

We are proud to celebrate Elder Jerry Francis of the Klahoose First Nation on his appointment to the Naut’sa mawt Tribal Council Elders’ Advisory Council. 🤎

Jerry is a respected Cultural Interpreter and Bear Guide at Klahoose Wilderness Resort, where he welcomes guests through cultural ceremony and shares Klahoose stories, teachings and language.

His lifelong dedication to cultural knowledge, language revitalization and community makes this recognition especially meaningful.

We are pleased to welcome Elder Jerry Francis of Klahoose First Nation as the newest member of our Elders' Advisory Council. 🤎

Jerry is a Cultural Interpreter and Bear Guide with the Klahoose Wilderness Resort, where he welcomes guests through cultural ceremonies and shares stories and teachings in ʔayʔaǰuθəm, the traditional language of the Klahoose people.

A fluent speaker of ʔayʔaǰuθəm, Jerry has played an important role in language revitalization efforts, including supporting the development of an e-dictionary of ʔayʔaǰuθəm. He is also an experienced skipper and has been an active canoe paddler for many years, carrying forward important cultural knowledge and traditions.

We are honoured to have Jerry join our Elders' Advisory Council.
