Introducing Meaford Ladder 317
2024 Rosenbauer Commander 109’ Viper
Meaford’s newest truck in our fleet was manufactured in 2024 and delivered in February 2026. It has a water capacity of 1892 L, a pumping capacity of 5035 LPM at 1040 Kpa at 1389 Rpm and a seating capacity of 6. It responds second to all in town reported alarms/fires and third or fourth to all other calls depending on incident details.
This truck holds a wide variety of firefighting and rescue equipment. Some of that equipment includes 5 SCBA packs and spare bottles, chain saws, multiple different ground ladders, auto extrication tools, firefighter decontamination kit, fire hose appliances, scene lighting and a portable generator.
This truck is very important to the community of Meaford and surrounding areas. Its 109’ ladder reach gives us the ability to perform a wide range of operational tactics such as rescue from heights, faster access for ventilation, effective fire attack, elevated observation and can even be an anchor point for our Tech Rescue Rope team. This ladder can reach areas that ground ladders cannot, making it especially valuable at apartment buildings, commercial buildings, industrial structures, and other large occupancies.
This truck is an investment in the community’s ability to safely manage the growth and changing building environment of the next several decades. Meaford’s own Master Fire Plan recognized that aerial apparatus becomes particularly important as the community grows, specifically identifying the risks associated with multi-storey residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. The plan noted that planned multi-tenant occupancies of three to five storeys would make an aerial apparatus a critical tool for the fire department.
