I love living on Vancouver Island! We have a beautiful 5km trail encircling our neighbourhood that takes us through some pretty spectacular old growth trees! This one always makes me stop in my tracks, the tree was cut down a long time ago (visible notches in the stump where the lumberjack could anchor his feet) but what intrigues me most is the new growth that has come from it!
Our forest is always changing, growing, and evolving….just like us!
