Gen X women, can we talk about getting older?
I came across a stat recently that stopped me:
88% of Gen X women believe our generation will redefine aging.
I’m one of them.
But I don’t think redefining aging means trying to stay young.
I think it means refusing to accept everything we were told getting older was supposed to mean.
That we become less relevant.
Less ambitious.
Less interested in what we want.
Less willing to begin again.
I’m 53 and I don’t feel like I’m winding down.
If anything, I’m becoming more discerning about what matters to me and less interested in spending my life on things that don’t.
Maybe that’s what our generation is going to redefine.
Not aging itself.
What it means to become more ourselves as we age.
I’m curious: what’s one thing you believe differently about getting older now than you did at 25?
