BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund

New proposals (Step 1 of the two-step application process) will be accepted until August 15, 2024, at 4:00 pm PST.

The BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund (BCMJF) is helping manufacturing companies modernize and grow their operations by funding capital projects in all regions of BC, particularly in communities affected by economic impacts or downturns. BCMJF will invest up to $180 million in projects that contribute to economic resilience and diversification and create and maintain stable, well-paying jobs for local workers.

The program welcomes applications from all manufacturing sectors. Forestry sector projects featuring new, sustainable value-added business lines to reduce dependency on old growth logging and make innovative use of biomaterials will be prioritized for funding.

The program is nearing the end of its current intake period, and deadlines are now in place for new proposals and full applications.

Hi my 🔨🔨🔨CONSTRUCTION🔨🔨🔨 friends… Are you continuously improving?📈 "Be open to learning from manufacturing." 🏭

I like seeing lean applied in various ways and Jason Schroeder from Elevate Construction has caught my attention 👀 with his YouTube videos. Here's what he says in the one linked below...

"Manufacturing and Construction are literally the exact same thing with different flow units. In manufacturing, the actual product typically moves. In construction, it's the trades that move but we're all doing similar things and there's no reason we can't learn from each other. So if you want to master a lean mindset, learn from manufacturing."

Lean in construction includes:
- Respect for people and resources
- Stability and flow (5S and 8 wastes)
- One-Process or One-Piece Flow
- Using Visual Control Systems
- Focus on Quality and Continuous Improvement.. Is anyone doing this in construction in the lower mainland?

Want to know what's really going on❓ Go to the actual place that the work is performed (Gemba) and engage with those doing it. Be respectful. Ask questions. The more minds and hands engaged in problem solving, the better❗

👀👀👀Yet another eye opener!👀👀👀

Attended Part 3 of Marketing Mixology at the Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce yesterday. Rob Hole from Octopus Creative Inc. covered how to integrate AI into your marketing to make life easier, including:
• Overview of AI's role in social media
• AI-powered tools for social media management
• Leveraging AI for customer service
• Implementing chatbots and automated responses

This was taken at my first job after graduating from BCIT's Operations Management program in 1994! I was the Production Scheduler at Indalex Aluminum Extrusions in Port Coquitlam. It was the beginning of my career and I am grateful to Larry Formosa for giving me a chance.

❗🛡🔐 2 FACTOR AUTHENTICATION🔐 🛡 ❗

Attended another Marketing Mixology session at the Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce. Rob Hole from Octopus Creative Inc. shared a lot of information about target audiences, social media networks, blogging, and Meta's Business Suite.

➡ My biggest takeaway... Ensure you have 2 FACTOR AUTHENTICATION turned on! Once you lose control of your social media account, you may never get it back. In fact, he shared stories of business owners NOT being refunded malicious charges to their credit card because of poor security🔐

🌟 Bonus tip I learned: Ensure you have a backup ADMIN where possible so you can still get into your account if your primary account is hacked.
