Frayed climbing shoe laces? Easy fix!

All you need:

⚫ Heat shrink tubing
✂️ Scissors
🔥 Lighter or heat gun

Trim the frayed end, slide on the tubing, heat gently until it shrinks snugly around the lace, then pinch the tip closed while it’s warm.

Simple, durable, and feels close to the original lace tip 🙌

Kneebar pad resoling? Repadding? Rekneeing? 🤔 We’re not totally sure what to call it - but it works.

This climber wanted a stiffer pad with a softer compound for better grip on slippery rock. A layer of did the trick. Shoutout to for the inspiration behind this one. 🙌

Can your sole be saved? Here’s how the progression of climbing shoe wear plays out…

🟢 Phase 1: Half Resole Needed
Your edges are thinning and rounded. Performance is starting to be affected. The rubber is thinner where it contacts the holds and as a result grip suffers because it’s less able to envelop the irregularities of the surface. Send them in now to skip rand repair and save.

🟠 Phase 2: Rand Repair Likely Needed
The seam between the sole and rand is starting to recede downward. Performance degrades further as the sole gets thinner. With the receded sole, the rand has seen accelerated wear and is most likely too thin to support a half resole. At this point you cannot tell visually whether a rand repair is required – you need to press a thumb into the rand to gauge its thickness by feeling soft spots.

🔴 Phase 3: Rand Repair is Needed
The rands are either paper thin, or already have pinholes. Performance is significantly worse as you’re now climbing on very thin rand rubber, or even leather/synthetic rather than sole.

⚫ Beyond Repair - Major holes, or brittle and degraded material.

Time for a resole? & are teaming up for a one-time shoe shipment! Drop your shoes off at the front desk by May 25. They’ll be sent out for repairs on May 26, and once they’re ready, you can pick them up right where you dropped them off. Easy as that! 🧗‍♂️
