We think we know how to enter in a dialogue with other person, or a team of people. In practice, we rush through conversations to conclude with a decision, a point of agreement, an action plan…

Dialogue requires time, suspension of judgement, many meetings, hours of listening (if necessary). And all these for the purpose of understanding the other side.

This is what I learned in my 10-year practice of healing organizations. In all my engagements I aim at building skills within my client organizations to enter and sustain dialogue.

If yo have any questions about dialogue related skills, send me a message.

Happy Nowruz! Happy New Year!

Nowruz is a rite dating back to at least the 6th century BCE, marking the new year and ushering in spring. Variously known as Novruz, Nowrouz, Nooruz, Navruz, Nauroz or Nevruz, this historic rite is observed on 21 March in many countries along the Silk Roads, including Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Iran, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan (en.unesco.org)

Nowruz promotes values of peace and solidarity between generations and within families. Traditionally, it's a time of reconciliation between neighbours, fighting clans and even countries.

It's not a religious holiday but rather a universal celebration of new beginnings. The day of equinox is the best day for any beginning: hoping that winter will go aways sooner, looking forward for warmer days.

In recognition of the importance of this ancient rite, Nowruz was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009. Moreover, in 2010, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21 March International Nowruz Day (en.unesco.org)

Hello beautiful peopleI I just published my first “This is what I learned today.” More will come. Are you curious? Check it out. It is brief and hopefully you will learn something new too.

This is what I learned today: if you are looking for benefits that may come out of your failure, you have greater chances of boosting your emotional well-being even if you do not succeed in your project! Read that sentence again! It is perhaps unusual to search for the benefits of failure but try as

I am a very average cook 🧑‍🍳 but this year I decided to try something new. I signed up for weekly boxes of products that come together with recipes (this is not an advertisement!). I realized these weekly pre-packaged boxes relieve me decision-making process of what to cook, what to buy, going to the grocery store, crossing off items from a long list… it is quite an adventure - cooking recipes that I don’t know. Sometimes the dish is tasty AND looks good, but sometimes it is a total (or almost) disaster. But I am still learning. Cooking breaks my routine of long work hours from home. Cooking allows me to use other parts of my brain that I use for work. I get physically tired, but it feels good. I sleep better. AND I get to see my very busy daughter who is always hungry 😋
What about you? What are you cooking this weekend?

The quality of the trust-based space depends highly on the quality of your leadership — 100%! I know this for sure from my own personal experience and that of organizations I have coached on trust and psychological safety.

It all starts at the top. It depends on the leaders’ skill and competencies, their patience with the pace of change, and their desire to implement change in their organizations so that people feel they can trust others and be trustworthy.

My friend Isolde called my January reading list “an edifying choice” (apart from Star Wars). Most books I read are for self-education (like a book on Trust or “What happened to you?”). I also read books in French language (for work or as a hoppy) so I do not loose my language skills, to stay in linguistic shape. Star Wars books I read for fun: it is a universe worth of discovering.

Read a complete blog post about books I read in a link in my bio.

What are you reading these days? Share your photos or titles.

Remember that classic “Who moved my cheese?” by Spencer Johnson, M.D.? Are we all now facing a situation in which pandemic moved our cheese? Wasn’t our cheese moved more than once?

As S.Johnson puts it in his book:”Sometimes we’re not even aware that we’re afraid… Change is happening everywhere and that I will do better when I can adjust to it quickly.”

There are so many nuggets of wisdom in this book! I recommend everyone to peruse it once in a while to remind yourself of some good questions we need to ourselves more often:
❓What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
❓What do we need to let go of and what do we need to move on to?

Here is what I learned from my own experience of change and helping others to navigate change:
✅Change happens to all of us. It is the only constant in our lives now.
✅Organizations can only change when enough people in it change.
✅It all starts from leadership showing new behaviour, leading the change, not managing it.

📌 I also know for sure that today leadership needs a new skillset to lead the change. This skillset must include 2 key competencies:
🎯Setting up frameworks to strengthen psychological safety;
🎯Achieving results in a way that increases trust, and not destroys it.

Here is how I can help:
⛑I can facilitate a dialogue about change and transitions.
⛑Brainstorm with you and co-design change strategies.
⛑Train internal change agents and facilitators.

➡️You can also register for my course at www.kmambetova.com and explore trust and psychological safety yourself.
⏰Early bird registration expires on August 31.
