A big shout out and thanks to Chateauguay Community for those who showed up to support our fundraising craft fair at Maplewood church benefiting Connections Youth Center this past Saturday.💛

A big thank you to all of our vendors. You were all amazing and such beautiful people doing wonderful things. You are appreciated 💛
To our volunteers, you were amazing and such a great help, thank you 💛

We raised $1,456 and what was really great was all the networking that happened. We had the most amazing vendors this year, with a wide variety of artisanal products, crafts, quilts, knitted & crocheted products, wood signage, glass fusion art, illustrations, baked goods, awesome body products, and so much more. So many unique articles. I was in heaven!!! I love to do my shopping at these fairs, and all year long.... supporting local families.💚

Newbies are now out there promoting their goods, friendships were made, and a little extra money will now help Connections to keep on helping teens and families in need. 💛

In 2019, the Quebec English-speaking Communities Research Network (QUESCREN) released a report that highlighted the ongoing underrepresentation of English-speaking Quebecers in the Quebec civil service. The question of employment of English-speaking Quebecers has also been addressed in a survey jointly led by John Abbott College and McGill University, as well as through activities by the Provincial Employment Roundtable (PERT).

Join them at this event where speakers will present some of the latest research being conducted on employment of English-speakers, followed by a panel discussion.

When: Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Where: Online using Zoom. Link will be emailed to registered participants.

Language of event: English, with simultaneous translation in French. There will also be closed-captions available in English.

We are grateful to be celebrating our 10th anniversary.

We are now celebrating our 10th year, and as we reflect on another year of growth together, we are thankful to our loyal members for their continued support and dedication to helping each other to grow our businesses together.

We recognize that the achievements of a networking group are the results of the combined effort of each individual business. We’ve been introduced to many new faces and businesses over the years, but it is the quality of relationships that keeps us strong. The giving of one's self in offering learning opportunities is exponential.

We have experienced that not all people are right for all networking groups, and not all networking groups are right for all members. But we have been blessed with members who value commitment, openness, and the quality of their relationships. This is why our group has always worked well.

This has been an extraordinary year where we have had to relearn to leverage our time, our relationships, how we do business, and redirection . We’ve had to renew how to actually expand our contacts, Centers of Influence, and the services we can offer or recommend to our clients and networking members. Ideally, we are dealing with the same types of business owners and service providers, it’s just been a little “different”.

We’ve enjoyed sharing of ideas, the celebration of victories, and taken pleasure in seeing friendships founded on business bloom. If there’s one thing we know about small businesses, it’s that they’re focused on growth. Growth is never by mere chance, but rather the result of forces working together. Out of your vulnerabilities will come your strength, as we have learned together that strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle.

It’s been a wonderful 10 years!

The Black Community Resource Centre, the Quebec English-speaking Communities Research Network, the Institute for Community Entrepreneurship and Development and CEDEC will host a series of workshops in Montreal in September.

Information gathered during the workshops will be used to generate a concrete plan to connect talented English-speaking Black Quebecers with employers in the tech, financial, health and public administration sectors.
