The following items, while recyclable, do not belong in your blue bag - or a clear bag for that matter. These items, when being handled by staff at our Material Recovery Facility, pose a huge risk. Sharps go in a container and cannisters should be saved for an HHW day or dropped off at one of our facilities.

We would like to remind the public to be mindful of what goes in your bags. If you're not sure, ask. We are available during business hours, by phone (653-2900/2910), by email at [email protected] or through Messenger on our page.

We would appreciate it if you would like and share this post to increase awareness.

Did you know Pay As You Go is available at all CNWM facilities?

You can still load money onto your CNWM card, or you can simply pay with your debit or credit card when you scale out.

No more checking your CNWM card balance before you arrive! Just make sure any outstanding balance is paid prior to your visit, then Pay As You Go when you leave.

Right idea. Wrong bag.

We found this broken knife blade inside an unlabeled box that had been placed in a blue recycling bag.

The person had the right idea, by placing the sharp metal inside a box — but the safest way to handle sharps is to:

🔹 Place sharp objects, such as broken blades, needles, or other dangerous metal, in a rigid, puncture-resistant container.
🔹 Secure the container with a tight-fitting lid or strong tape so nothing can come out.
🔹 Clearly mark the container “SHARPS.”
🔹 Place the secured container in your clear garbage bag—not your blue recycling bag.

Please help us keep our collection and facility staff safe. Sharps can cause serious injuries when bags are handled, sorted or processed. Other dangerous items—including aerosol cans, batteries, chemicals and other hazardous materials—can also create fire, injury or exposure risks.

If you have questions, we are available via Messenger, by email at recycle(at)cnwmc.com and by phone.

Keep Batteries Out of the Landfill! 🔋♻️

Did you know that many of our regional communities are now battery collection partners? That means you can conveniently drop off your used household batteries right at your local Town Office!

As we continue rolling out this program, more collection boxes will be popping up in more communities across the region. Our goal is simple: keep batteries out of the landfill and help prevent fires caused by improper disposal.

A big welcome and thank you to our three newest collection partners:
Town of Sandringham, NL
Town of Gambo
Town of Norris Arm

Together, we’re making it easier to Recycle Right and Keep Batteries Safe!
