Here’s what you need to know:

Already submitted? No changes required unless IRCC contacts you.

Application still in progress? You’ll need to review your previous answers and complete new questions.

Claimed asylum at the border? Additional steps may apply if your claim hasn’t been linked to your IRCC Portal account.

IMPORTANT: Unfinished claims will not automatically be cancelled because of this transition.

Make sure your application is complete, accurate and submitted according to IRCC requirements.

Canada has issued 3,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in the latest Express Entry draw targeting trade occupations, with a CRS cut-off score of 476.

Receiving an ITA is an important step, but applicants must still ensure they meet all eligibility requirements and provide complete and accurate supporting documentation.

These sectors may offer valuable career opportunities, but an occupation being considered “in demand” does not automatically make someone eligible for OINP nomination or permanent residence.

Thinking about starting or growing a business in British Columbia? 🇨🇦

The BC PNP Entrepreneur Immigration Program may provide a pathway to permanent residence for experienced entrepreneurs who are ready to invest in and actively operate a business in B.C.

Two options are available:

Base Stream
• Minimum net worth: $600,000 CAD
• Minimum investment: $200,000 CAD
• Create at least 1 full-time job
• Minimum CLB 4

Regional Stream
• Minimum net worth: $300,000 CAD
• Minimum investment: $100,000 CAD
• Create at least 1 full-time job
• Minimum CLB 4
• Community referral and exploratory visit required

B.C. continues to invite entrepreneur candidates in 2026. The latest listed draw on July 28, 2026 invited 10 Base Stream candidates with a minimum score of 117.

ONTARIO IMMIGRATION UPDATE — NEW PR PATHWAY NOW OPEN! 🇨🇦

Ontario has officially opened the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream (OWPS) under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

📅 EOI registration opened August 4, 2026

The new stream provides a pathway toward permanent residence for eligible foreign workers with a qualifying job offer from an Ontario employer.

✅ Who may qualify?
• Higher-skilled workers with an eligible Ontario job offer
• Lower-skilled workers with an eligible Ontario job offer
• Eligible self-employed physicians in Ontario — job offer not required

How does it work?
1️⃣ Employer creates an eligible job offer
2️⃣ Candidate registers an Expression of Interest (EOI)
3️⃣ Ontario assigns an EOI score
4️⃣ Ontario conducts draws and invites selected candidates
5️⃣ Invited candidates apply for provincial nomination
6️⃣ After nomination, successful applicants can proceed with their federal PR application 🇨🇦

Important: Ontario’s previous OINP streams have closed as part of the province’s immigration program redesign.

No Ontario job offer?
For most applicants, OWPS will not be an option without a qualifying Ontario job offer. Other Canadian immigration pathways may still be available depending on your profile.

Ontario Immigration Update: OINP Redesigned

Ontario is making major changes to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) to better meet labour market needs.

The current 8 streams are being streamlined into 4 new pathways.

🔹 Ontario Workforce Priority Stream
A new employer-connected stream helping eligible foreign workers with Ontario job offers move toward permanent residence.

Key highlights:
✅ Language & education requirements
✅ More focus on Ontario work experience
✅ Stronger employer connections
✅ Flexibility for related work experience
✅ Lower thresholds for some rural/Northern employers
✅ Increased compliance & anti-fraud measures

Important updates:
• EOI system closed June 25, 2026
• Expected to reopen later summer 2026
• Existing applications will continue processing
• More new streams coming later in 2026

A job offer does not guarantee eligibility or an invitation. Requirements must still be met.

Important Update: Parents and Grandparents Program Paused

On July 15, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada announced that it is pausing new intake under the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP).

What does this mean?

❌ No new Interest to Sponsor forms will be accepted
❌ No new invitations to apply will be issued until further notice
✅ Applications that have already been submitted will continue to be processed
✅ IRCC plans to admit up to 15,000 parents and grandparents as permanent residents in 2026

For families who have not yet submitted a PGP application, the Super Visa may still be an option.

The Super Visa allows eligible parents and grandparents to:

✈️ Visit Canada for up to 5 years at a time
🔄 Enter Canada multiple times
📅 Hold a visa valid for up to 10 years

Please note that the Super Visa is a temporary residence option and does not provide permanent resident status.

📌 CRS Cut-off: 798 
With a cut-off score this high, a Provincial Nomination is currently the most reliable way to secure an ITA if your base score is in the 400s or 500s.
