In his book, Thomas Erikson discusses how even at an early age he found some people easier to get along with than others. No matter what he did, some conversations were easy, while others seemed to always go wrong. To think that he might have to go through life surrounded by people who were impossible to work with appalling! He began to study human behaviours and soon landed on the DISC model, quickly realizing that the four different personality types (and blends of two or three) quickly gave him a method to approach virtually anyone comfortably. People are different, but they are predictably different! Using the Platinum Rule when communicating builds trust, reduces conflict, and gives everyone the chance to share strengths, reduce weaknesses, and create harmony at home and at work.
