The fastest way to success is still the hardest ... become more valuable, learn better skills, ad do the work others avoid.

Self employed, no pension. So the 2008 market crash really did a number on my retirement plans. I was 47 years old and needed a new plan!

In late 2009 and 2010, I invested in learning a new skill ... real estate investment. And in the following 2 years, I bought 32 units, all 100% financed. And I wholesaled 12 more! Don't let anyone tell you it can't be done!

By 2014, a major education company had hired me to mentor their students. By 2016, I was teaching classes for them.

I retired from the day job in Feb. 2020.

The Bank of Canada held the policy interest rate at 2.25% today, citing the continuing conflict in the middle east and the trade conflict with the U.S. as the cause of current inflation, and emphasizing the need for stability. They did, however, indicate that there was further upside risk for inflation, and that monetary policy would be adjusted 'as needed'.

Of importance to note is the recent increase in bond yields, which are already impacting on borrowing costs.

Most analysts are still predicting an increase in the policy rate before the end of the year.

The Bank of Canada today held its target for the overnight rate at 2.25%, with the Bank Rate at 2.5% and the deposit rate at 2.20%.

Imagine Travis Kelce! He wanted to meet Taylor Swift. He went to her concert to meet her, and give her a friendship bracelet with his number, but struck out! So Travis announced on his podcast what he had tried to do, and someone on Taylor's team heard the podcast, and mentioned it to her. Taylor connected with Travis, and the rest is history.

Sounds like a Series of Unfortunate Events that ended well, doesn't it? But it is more than that! Travis had a dream to meet Taylor. So he made it a goal, put a plan in place to do it, and executed the plan! When the plan didn't work, he moved to plan B. He did not change the dream or the goal. He adapted the plan, and took action! Now they are married!

Market Messaging ... Bank of Canada expected to hold the policy rate at 2.25% when it makes its announcement on Wednesday. It is seen in a holding pattern while the trade dispute between Canada and the U.S. is being addressed.

That said, keep an eye on bond yields. They have a direct impact on borrowing costs, as explained in the article below. Worth a read.
