Can we normalize individual success?

Let's be real, we all have:

➡️ Our own version of success
➡️ Goals we would like to achieve in life
➡️ Methods that work for us and methods that don't
➡️ Mindset shifts we need to make in order to progress
.. AND different steps, detours, and paths.

There is no such thing as chronological order.

There's no such thing as a guarantee or a for-sure method/system.

Some may tell you different... but we all have different journeys, backgrounds, and goals that need to come into play when we're building a business to suit our lifestyles.

I remember when I first started talking to Cheri. We immediately bonded over our enneagram results! This is also why all our calls were always so fun... we're insanely similar.

What if no one buys my offer.

It’s a fear we’ve all had at one point or another…

Whether you’re new to business or you’ve been selling your services for a while, that little fear is in the back of your mind…

At least it’s in my mind and always has been.

This is a fear I haven’t really shared because in the online space we see the highlight reels.

We see coaches and business owners talking about how well they are doing and PAST challenges. But we rarely see current challenges.

I can tell you why…

It’s because people are worried if they share their current challenges, people will stop seeing them as an authority and won’t buy from them.

I know that because I feel that way.

I’m over here like:

❌ Why would someone buy into my programs if I have the same fear they do?

❌ Why would someone trust me to guide them on their business journey if I feel lost myself?

❌ Why would someone see me as an authority if I don’t even myself that way?

I feel these fears and it’s held me back from truly showing up for my audience in the way I know I should be.

So here’s the reality…

➡️ I’m afraid!

➡️ I’m afraid I’ll wake up one day and everything I’ve worked so hard for will be gone.

➡️ I’m afraid I’ll go weeks, or even months, without making a sale.

➡️ I’m afraid my business isn’t as strong as I think it is and therefore other people will question my ability to help them.

I know I have these fears and I KNOW you have them too.

And what I’ve come to realize is… maybe I’ll always be afraid. Not in a paralyzing way but in a way that reminds me to be grateful for what I have, to keep trying and being intentional with my actions, and to help others in the best way I possibly can.

So I’m sharing my fear… and my fear doesn’t make me any less of a business owner.

And it may help you to see that I’m only a few steps ahead of you. What you want isn’t actually that far away.

This has never sat right with me...

Have you ever had a conversation with coach and become interested in hiring them, but then find out you have to pay more just because you need a payment plan?

I have...

It sucks!

When I was first starting my business I had:

Been fired from my job
No savings to speak of
Just bought a new car I new couldn't afford
Credit cards, student loans, and a line of credit to pay off

This all meant that I didn't have thousands of dollars sitting in my bank around ready to be invested in a coach.

This also meant that I needed a payment plan.

What I came to realize is that needing a payment plan to get the coaching I needed also meant I was paying hundreds of dollars more than someone who could pay the full price right away.

I honestly felt so defeated. I felt like I was being punished because I didn't have all the money to hand over right away.

I felt like because I needed more time to pay for the full program, I didn't deserve the same price as someone else.

Can you relate to this?

As a coach, I know the reason behind percentage increases for payment plans:

Coaches want you to pay for the whole program up front. Of course! It's a serious cash injection into our businesses!
Coaches are worried you will default on payments and therefore they want to be able to makeup some of that lost cash!

I see the logic... I do. But it's never sat well with me.

I've needed payment plans and felt horrible when I had to pay more as a result.

A phrase we hope never comes out of the mouths of people we want to work with!

We want to:

✅ Make a good first impression
✅ Show our audience that we are truly there to help them
✅ Make sure they know we're not salesy and gross

We're worried about people:

❌ Thinking we're too pushy
❌ Feeling like we only care about what's in their wallets... money
❌ Badmouthing us to everyone they know so we never find clients

This is why we tend to shy away from...

Sending cold emails
Connecting and starting conversations in the DMs
Pitching our services confidently
..all because we're worried that we may cross the line into gross and salesy.

I get it. I've been there.

I've worried about people thinking I'm salesy.
I've worried that people will think I've crossed a line.
I've worried about making people uncomfortable by pitching my services.

But what we forget to consider is that these are all OUR OWN WORRIES. These are all our internal thoughts that are wrong more often than they are right.

So, the next time you find someone you believe to be a good fit for your services, ask yourself these questions...

❓ Are you salesy?
❓ Are you trying to take advantage of someone?
❓ Are you trying to push a service they don't need?

OR are you...

💛 Giving them options?
💛 Offering support?
💛 Trying to help them?

If you KNOW you're not salesy, pushy, and all the bad words we associate with sales...

Then why would someone else think that 😉

🔥 Try and help!

Otherwise, you're making the decision for them... which we all know isn't fair.

Imagine being at capacity...

My client is just ONE client away from being at capacity and we've only been working together for a couple of months!

I remember when her and I first started chatting about working together...

She had been in business for a couple of years and only had one regular client. She had been doing a bunch of tasks she hated and wasn't achieving the income she wanted in her business.

She also didn't know what her next step was.

❓How does she grow?

Starting a DFY service business online is amazing!

One of the reasons being that it has little to no overhead. You can literally start your business with:

➡️ You
➡️ A laptop
➡️ And wifi
.. and you're up and running.

BUT, because it's so inexpensive to start, we forget how important it is to make sure we're investing in ourselves and our businesses to make sure we're building something that will:

💥 Stand the test of time
💥 Provide us with consistent income month over month
💥 Allow us to have an impact on others, including those we love

I spent so much time trying to figure out how I could learn and grow... but without spending a ton of money.

Because of that mindset, I ended up joining a low-ticket membership program. It was someone I kind of knew and trusted, and I thought it would be what took my business to the next level.

I was wrong!

❌ I got NO time with the coach
❌ Felt like another number
❌ Spent over $1.2K for the membership alone
❌ Spent $2K+ to travel to this coach's live event
.. and came out with no results.

Your social is NEVER going to get you clients...

If you're experiencing one of these three signs.

⚠️1. You're posting on social media regularly, but you're NOT GETTING SALES!

There is a disconnect between what your audience needs and wants, and what you're saying.

This often means you don't know your audience well enough to be able to talk to them effectively, or your audience is too broad and you're trying to talk to too many people.

⚠️2. you're struggling to come up with content ideas

When you don't know what to say and when you're struggling to come up with content ideas, it's because there are too many possibilities or you genuinely don't know what your audience wants to hear from you.

In any case, the content you eventually put out is going to be a complete and total MISS!

⚠️3. You're creating content for your fellow freelancers and service providers!

My one and only question is:

Are freelancers, and people just like you, your target audience?

If so, GREAT! Keep creating content for them.

But if they're not the ones who are going to buy your services, then stop creating content for them.

It all comes down to knowing your audience. If you don't know your audience:

❌ The sales won't happen
❌ You'll always struggle with content
❌ You'll always be attracting the wrong people who are never going to buy your services

MY BUSINESS NEEDS TO BE FULLY SETUP BEFORE I CAN START WORKING WITH CLIENTS

If you took a corporate job, you would never work for free. You would never train for free, setup your workspace for free, etc. So why would you you do this in your own business? By focusing on setting up your business BEFORE you get clients, you are working for free. Your time is valuable and you deserve to be compensated for all the effort you put in to your business.

🔥Myth 2🔥

I NEED TO SPEND MY TIME CREATING CONTENT AND SHOWING UP ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Do you have multiple clients and a consistent stream of income coming in to your business? Then spending time on social media and content creation is not where your time and effort needs to be spent. Your number one priority needs to be having conversations with potential clients. Only after you have the clients should you layer in the nurturing content and social media.

🔥Myth 3🔥

ONCE I HAVE ONE CLIENT, IT MEANS I'M DOING GOOD AND AM ON THE RIGHT TRACK

Getting one client is the easy part. Next comes the strategies and methods that you need to KEEP bringing clients in and making sure your business is consistent. Getting one client is fantastic, but that doesn't mean it can be repeated easily. Until you are achieving your income goal, you need to keep that client acquisition mentality!
