If you're doing all the talking in a difficult conversation…

You're not having a conversation.
You're giving a lecture.

And when the other person sits there, silent, nodding, saying “I have nothing to add”—

It’s not compliance.

It’s withdrawal.
In psychologically unsafe environments, people typically choose:

→ Silence (they shut down)

→ Violence (they resist in passive or disruptive ways)
And neither helps you move forward.

Real leadership is measured by the shared pool of meaning—the exchange.

If you're the only one contributing, you've created a monologue, not a moment of growth.
Watch for the silence.

It often says more than the words ever could.

In this episode, Fahd chats with serial entrepreneur Adrian Salamunovic about the real mechanics behind building to sell.

“Even if you never sell, building a company someone could buy forces you to be operationally excellent.”

Adrian unpacks how to structure your business so it can operate without you:
✅ Clean books
✅ Clear systems
✅ Solid ops

This episode is packed with tactical insights for founders who want real leverage—not just hype.

Let’s retire the feedback sandwich. 🥪

Actually… let’s just call it what it is: a s**t sandwich.
It doesn’t work.

Not because people don’t like feedback—

But because it confuses the message.
💬 They either:

→ Only hear the sugar-coating and think “I’m fine”

→ Or spiral on the negative and miss the praise
Want to be a great leader?

✅ Separate praise from critique.

Celebrate publicly. Coach intentionally.
You don’t need to soften the truth.

You just need to deliver it with respect.

Here’s one of the simplest, most overlooked truths about high-performing teams:
They admit more mistakes.

Not because they make more—

but because they’re more honest about them.
And that starts at the top.
When a leader owns their misstep, they’re not losing credibility—

they’re giving their team permission to be real.
If your team never shares what’s going wrong, it’s not because things are perfect.

It’s because they don’t feel safe telling the truth.
Admit your mistakes. Normalize learning.

That’s how trust is built—and how performance follows.

🚨 Episode 22 of Unicorn Leaders is out — and if you’re building something serious, this one’s for you.

Fahd sits down with serial entrepreneur Adrian Salamunovic to break down what it takes to think big and act long-term.

“Everything you build today compounds tomorrow.
So hire like it matters. Build systems like they’ll last. Make decisions like you plan to be here for a while.”

Adrian shares how long-term thinking helped him scale and exit DNA11 and CanvasPop—and why most founders play too small, too early.

If you want to build a business that’s scalable, sellable, and sustainable, this episode is packed with real talk and practical takeaways.

⚡️ Managers stretched too thin
💬 Communication breakdowns

Empowerment isn’t “do what you want.”

It’s structured freedom.
It’s how you build efficient, effective, decentralized decision-making.

Here’s the formula:
→ Increase velocity without losing quality
→ Push decisions down to those closest to the problem
→ Set guardrails to keep alignment

Empowerment is the balance between autonomy and accountability.
It’s not chaos—it’s clarity, distributed.

That’s how startups scale without losing control.

05/21/2025

Here’s the test:
If the only way you can get someone to act is by using your title—
you’re not leading. You’re managing through fear.

When emotions take over, leaders default to authority:
🛑 “I’m your boss.”
🛑 “It’s in the contract.”
🛑 “You have to.”

But that’s not leadership. That’s compliance.
And it destroys trust.

True leadership is when people follow you because they believe, not because they have to.

If you have to pull rank, you’ve already lost the conversation.

Everyone wants to know:
“What’s the best leadership style?”

Short answer: it depends.

🧠 Visionary leadership is powerful—but useless in a fire.
🛠️ Commanding works in a crisis—but kills autonomy over time.
👥 Coaching builds teams—but takes longer.

The best leaders use their styles like a set of golf clubs—
They choose the right one based on the situation, the person, and the pressure.

If you're only leading with one style, you're playing a limited game.
Great leadership is situational.

🚨 Episode 22 of the Unicorn Leaders podcast is live — and this one features serial entrepreneur and author Adrian Salamunovic in a raw, wisdom-packed conversation on what it really takes to build and exit great companies.

“I realized that if everything failed, I’d be fine. I’d move back in with my mom.
And that freed me from chasing money. I started chasing clarity instead.”

Adrian shares how that mindset helped him scale and exit companies like DNA11 and CanvasPop for 30x EBITDA.

We dive deep into what founders get wrong about scaling, why the smartest person in the room usually isn’t the best leader, and what it takes to build with conviction over ego.

Performance reviews are broken.

Once a year, too late, one-sided, and focused on the past — no wonder they don't work.

❌ Feedback comes months after it mattered
❌ Conversations feel one-way and biased
❌ There's no focus on future growth

You deserve better. So does your team.

Our eBook shows you how to turn performance reviews into something useful:

Timely, Collaborative & Growth-focused.

Ditch the old way. Build a culture of real progress.

If someone on your team avoids asking you a question they should already know, that’s not their failure.

That’s yours.

Because psychological safety isn’t built by saying “my door is always open.”
It’s built by showing—over and over—that no question is too basic, too late, or too obvious to ask.

When your team is afraid to say,
“Hey, I’m still unclear on this,”
that fear is louder than whatever you put in your onboarding deck.

Leaders who expect one-and-done communication will always lose to the ones who build trust through patience, repetition, and empathy.

🧠 If your team won’t ask… you need to ask why.
