More recently, Lisa Kirbie received a Certificate of Appreciation recognizing her flexibility in providing leave and accommodations so a member of our team could fulfil their responsibilities as Commanding Officer of 820 Chris Hadfield Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron.

With a background in global law and social justice and Indigenous Amazigh heritage, she brings a thoughtful perspective to her work and a deep commitment to reconciliation, equity and human rights.

Health policy is also a question of whose knowledge gets heard.

A policy can look effective on paper while missing the realities of the people expected to follow or deliver it. A virtual care program assumes reliable internet. A medical travel policy counts flights, not the weeks a patient spends far from family and land.

Better decisions begin by treating lived and community knowledge as part of the evidence. That's why we work with First Nations to identify where health policy is falling short and carry the identified solutions to the decision-makers who can act on them.

At Blackbird Strategies, we work alongside First Nations and Indigenous communities. Our job is to make sure the people closest to a problem are heard by those with the power to fix it.
We advocate for change.

On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour residential school Survivors and the children who never returned home. Our thoughts are with their families and communities.

Murray Sinclair’s words remind us that reconciliation requires sustained commitment. That responsibility carries into our work, our relationships, and the decisions we make beyond today.

The work is best begun before the House resumes, while there is still time to test assumptions, refine positioning, and confirm the strategy fits the moment. The earlier that groundwork starts, the more room there is to adjust course once Parliament is back in session — though the door is never fully closed, opportunities to course-correct simply narrow the longer you wait
