Sometimes we get pulled so close to our thoughts, feelings, and other messy internal experiences that we forget there’s a whole world around us.
The next time that happens, try this:
💧Imagine placing each difficult thought or feeling on a raindrop and watch it fall🌦️
The goal isn’t to make the thought disappear. It’s to create a little space between you and the thought, so it doesn’t have to hold all of your attention.
Then gently anchor yourself to help with the present moment.
- Maybe that’s stretching your feet.
- Maybe it’s noticing the softness of your favourite sweater or blanket.
- Maybe it’s being near or petting a pet.
- Maybe it’s holding a warm drink.
- Maybe it’s listening to the rain or,
- Maybe it’s feeling your breath moving in and out.
The goal isn’t to get rid of what’s happening inside you.
The goal is to remember that your thoughts, emotions, and body sensations are only one part of your experience, not the whole of it.
That’s : making room for your inner experience while reconnecting with what matters in the present moment.
🛟Save this for the next time your inner world feels louder than the world around you 💕
