Meet Marchy (Michael Marchment), our Local FireSmart Representative (LFR) of the Month!

Based in Pemberton, BC, Marchy supports the Village of Pemberton through Pemberton Fire Rescue. With five years of experience as a firefighter, including deployments to wildfire-impacted communities, he became an LFR three years ago to shift the focus toward prevention.

From completing home and neighbourhood assessments to leading community events, Marchy is helping residents feel more confident and take real action to protect their properties.

His advice to fellow LFRs? Build relationships, keep the message practical and achievable, and remember that small changes can make a big difference.

Thanks for all that you do, Marchy! Learn more about Marchy and previous LFRs at: https://firesmartbc.ca/local-firesmart-representatives/lfr-of-the-month/

Pemberton Fire Rescue is hosting the BC Wildfire Service Engine Boss course, bringing firefighters from across the region into the community for a full day of hands-on wildfire training.

There is no emergency. This is a training exercise.

Throughout the day, you may notice fire engines, wildland apparatus, and crews working in different areas of the Village. If you see firefighters nearby, please slow down, give them space, and feel free to wave hello.

This training plays an important role in keeping Pemberton and our regional communities safe. It helps:
โ€ข Build more certified wildfire leaders within our department
โ€ข Give regional crews experience on local terrain before an emergency
โ€ข Strengthen coordination between departments across the Sea-to-Sky

Thank you for your patience and support as we host this important training.

Pemberton Fire Rescue would like to advise the public that the campfire ban will remain in effect within the Village of Pemberton boundaries at this time.

Although the Coastal Fire Centre will lift the regional campfire prohibition on May 15, current conditions in the Pemberton area remain very dry. Combined with multiple recent wildland fire responses in our region, we believe maintaining the local campfire ban is the safest course of action to help reduce wildfire risk and protect our community.

Our priority is keeping Pemberton safe, and we will continue to monitor weather conditions closely. The local campfire ban will remain in place until we see a meaningful change in moisture levels and fire conditions.

We appreciate everyoneโ€™s cooperation and continued efforts to help prevent wildfires in our area.

Community members are advised that the campfire ban remains in effect within Village of Pemberton boundaries until October 31, 2026, or until it is rescinded.

While the Coastal Fire Centre will lift the regional campfire prohibition on May 15, Pemberton Fire Rescue will be maintaining a local campfire ban due to continued dry conditions in the area. Recent wildland fire responses in our region have also contributed to this decision, as we work to reduce wildfire risk and protect the community.

We will continue to monitor conditions closely, and the local ban will remain in place until there is a meaningful improvement in moisture levels and fire conditions.

We appreciate everyoneโ€™s cooperation and ongoing efforts to help prevent wildfires in our area. Thank you for doing your part to help prevent wildfires in the area!
