What started as a solution for me is becoming something bigger.

This morning, I'm taking a moment to reflect.

Over the past year, alongside serving clients and running Simplifeye Optical, I've been working on a project that was born from a very simple need: I needed a better way to manage and grow my business.

So I started building systems.

At first, they were just for me.

Workflows, processes, automations, checklists, and tools designed to solve the challenges I was facing as an independent optician wearing all the hats.

But as I connected with other opticians and business owners, I realized many of them were facing similar struggles.

What started as a personal solution slowly began evolving into something that could help others too.

Yesterday, after a long day of work behind the scenes, I realized I'm finally in the home stretch.

There's still work to do, but for the first time, I can clearly see the finish line.

And today, instead of focusing on what's left, I'm choosing to appreciate how far I've come.

Sometimes the most meaningful things we build start because we're simply trying to solve a problem in our own lives.

Sometimes they grow into something we never expected.

Today, I'm grateful for both the journey and the reminder that progress is worth celebrating—even before the work is completely finished.

What have you been working on that started as a solution to your own challenge?

One of the reasons I love carrying Aya Eyewear is that each collection is inspired by Indigenous art and storytelling.

This frame features artwork by Indigenous artist Donald Chrétien and serves as a beautiful reminder that eyewear can be more than something we wear—it can also be a celebration of culture, creativity, and connection.

As we recognize National Indigenous History Month, I'm taking time to learn, listen, and reflect on the histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

For me, Aya has always been about more than beautiful eyewear.
It's a reminder that stories matter. Art matters. Culture matters.

June is a wonderful time to learn something new, support Indigenous creators, and listen with curiosity.

Summer has a way of filling up quickly.

If new glasses have been sitting on your "I should really do that..." list, June appointments are now open for in-home eyewear consultations.

Whether you're looking for everyday glasses, sunglasses, help with lens options, or simply want a more relaxed experience without rushing through a store, I bring the eyewear experience to you.

Serving Penetanguishene, Midland, Tiny, Tay, Barrie, Orillia, and the communities in between.

Message me if you'd like to chat or book.

You can also book your appointment on our website. Link in bio.

A woman who recently booked an appointment told me something interesting.

When she first came across my page, she assumed mobile optical was only for seniors. Then she assumed it must be expensive.

After following along for a while, and reaching out to me, she realized neither was true.

Yes, I work with seniors. But I also work with busy professionals, caregivers, entrepreneurs, retirees, and women who simply want a more personalized eyewear experience.

And while pricing varies based on frame choice and lens design (just like any optical office), the biggest difference isn't usually the price—it's the experience.

What assumptions have you had about mobile optical?

A new client I am meeting with wanted to see what I had in blue frames, so I went through my collection and pulled together some of the more unique ones to show her when we meet at her styling appointment.

Mother’s Day can mean many different things to many different people.

Today, I’m holding gratitude for the women and mother figures who show up with care, love, strength, guidance, and support — in all the different ways that can look.

And I’m also holding space for those who may find today complicated, tender, or heavy.

However this day meets you, I hope there’s a little care and connection in it for you. 🌷❤️
