Day two of Tl’esqox Staff work bee: Gutting, cleaning, canning and vacuuming up “Lhuy” Fish. An Yes our fish was all composted also the cardboard free of tape we also composted.

Just wanted to let fellow Tl’esqox community members know that the compost from the “Gathering” yielded 150kgs which is 330lbs of food waste, and also the recycling from the “Gathering” yielded 120kgs which is 264lbs of recycling ♻️ from the event. This is all a very good thing as all of this is not ending in a landfill and will be repurposed 🙌🏾 thank you for all your efforts and support in helping Tl’esqox ease into “Going More Green”!
Thanks to Cariboo Compost taking our compost until we’re all set an making our own

*All Fish 🐟 waste is also compostable

Tote swap success!! Recycling & Garbage Collection
A couple times a week I get a bin full of food scraps from Tl'esqox community!
Recycling has been within the community for a few years and now recently organics collection has begun from households as well!
Household buckets are emptied into one of our larger 240L totes and swapped out with a clean empty one at our site whenever they come to town! We take care of the rest :)
Tipping fees for household organics is less than garbage so the community has been saving money and reducing waste overall!
Tl'esqox's recycling champion is an excellent resource and inspiration for this success in her community... so many thanks to you!
Keep bringing me this beautiful contam-free food scraps all you like.....

We would like to extend our appreciation to the exceptional members of our community who are actively contributing to our composting initiatives designed to minimize waste. Our collection today yielded 120 kilograms or 264.5 pounds of diverted food waste, which is a notable achievement. We are pleased with our gradual progress and would like to announce an upcoming information session scheduled for August 6. Further details will be posted for everyone's convenience.
