I’ve been thinking a lot about what it really means to lead, and who I am in that space.

So here it is, plainly.

I am not a perfect leader. I am not the loudest voice in the room (sometimes!). I am not someone who believes leadership comes from a title.

I am someone who works. Relentlessly. On myself first, because I refuse to ask anything of others that I’m not willing to demand from myself.

But where I am most certain… is this:

If you are on my team, if you trust me enough to walk beside you, even for a moment, I will go to the ends of the earth for you.

Not in words. In action.

I will stand beside you when things are hard.
I will push you when you don’t believe in yourself.
I will tell you the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable, because you deserve growth, not comfort.
And I will never, ever let you shrink into something smaller than what you are capable of becoming.

Because I see people differently.

I see potential before it’s realized.
I see strength where others see struggle.
I see leaders in people who have never once been told they are one.

That’s what drives me. That’s what Ember & Edge is built on.

Not perfection. Not ego. Not empty motivation.

But belief. Fierce, unwavering belief in people, and the responsibility we carry as leaders to protect it, build it, and sometimes fight for it when someone can’t yet do it for themselves.

Leadership, to me, is not about being followed.

It’s about leaving people stronger, braver, and more certain of who they are than when you found them.

If you’ve ever been on my team, you already know:
I will challenge you.
I will support you.
And I will never stop believing in what you’re capable of, even on the days you can’t see it yourself.

This is who I am.
This is how I lead.
And this is the standard I will never lower.

Leadership is easy… until you’re exhausted, frustrated, and hiding in the bathroom for 3 minutes of silence.

I’ve had a s**t stretch as a parent lately.

Not the Instagram version.
Not the “cherish every moment” version.
The real one.

The snapping.
The second-guessing.
The “am I screwing this up?” spiral at 10:47 PM.

And here’s the truth no one talks about:
You can be a strong leader…
and still lose your patience.

You can coach others through conflict…
and still struggle in your own home.

You can build high-performing teams…
and still feel like you’re failing your humans who matter most.

Leadership isn’t about being calm 100% of the time.
It’s about repair. Accountability. Self-awareness.
It’s about going back and saying, “I didn’t handle that well.”

That’s not weakness.
That’s modeling emotional maturity.

If you’re in a hard season, at work or at home, you’re not broken.
You’re human.

And human leaders?
Those are the ones worth following.

Life can be a full-on mind f**k 🤯

Not the dramatic crash-and-burn kind.
The slow, relentless kind that messes with your head while you’re still expected to perform like nothing’s wrong.

Where you’re doing all the right things
and still feel off.
Still tired.
Still questioning yourself in ways you never used to.

You’re outgrowing s**t that once kept you safe.
You’re carrying responsibility you didn’t ask for.
You’re realizing some versions of you are done, and there’s no ceremony for that. Just loss.

No one tells you how disorienting it is to be functional and falling apart at the same time.
How exhausting it is to keep it together when your nervous system is quietly fried.
How lonely it feels when you can’t explain why things feel heavy, they just do.

Growth doesn’t feel like motivation quotes and big wins.
It feels like friction.
Like resistance.
Like standing in uncertainty without a f**king map.

Some days you’re not resilient.
You’re just stubborn enough to not quit.

And honestly?
That counts.

This is me calling bulls**t on the idea that becoming more requires being graceful about it.
Sometimes becoming looks messy.
Sometimes it looks pi**ed off.
Sometimes it looks like showing up anyway raw, rattled, and real.

If this hit you, it’s because you’re in it too.
Not broken.
Not behind.
Just deep in a season that doesn’t care about your comfort.

Not every fire needs a fire extinguisher. 🧯

But we’ve decided they all do.

So we rush.
We react.
We smother everything the moment it gets uncomfortable.

It keeps us constantly busy,
and accomplishes almost nothing that matters.

We’ve built a culture that confuses urgency with importance and exhaustion with leadership.
A culture where putting out fires feels productive, even when it’s just avoidance.

Because if we’re always reacting, we never have to slow down.
Never have to look at broken systems.
Never have to change how we lead.

Extinguish long enough and you kill more than the fire.
You kill learning.
You kill momentum.
You kill improvement.

Not every fire is a crisis.
Some are consequences.
Some are data.
Some are the very thing that could force progress, if we let them burn long enough to be understood.

But as long as everything gets an extinguisher, nothing gets better. 🔥
