Join us Monday, November 2, at Redstone Winery in Beamsville for a free day of learning and discussion focused on regenerative agriculture, soil health, and practical farm management.

How can a better understanding of soil biology, soil mineralogy, and nitrogen use help improve farm performance? This event brings together experienced agricultural professionals to explore these questions and share practical insights growers can apply to their own operations.

Featured speaker Joel Williams will explore organic nitrogen and nitrogen use efficiency, including how plants use different forms of nitrogen and the role organic forms of nitrogen, including amino acids and hydrolysates, can play in plant nutrition. The session will consider how a better understanding of nitrogen utilization may help growers improve nutrient management and reduce reliance on synthetic fertilizers.

The day will also feature:

• John Slack, NaturAll Solutions, on soil mineralogy and understanding what’s in your soil.
• Spencer Zehr, NaturAll Solutions, on improving soil health through practical management.
• Augusta Van Muyen, Tawse Winery, on the successes and challenges of regenerative vineyard management.

Hosted by the Ontario Soil & Crop Improvement Association in partnership with Greenflow Corp., the team behind Squid Juice™, and the Ontario Soil Network, the event includes lunch, networking opportunities, and a field visit.

Today, we pause to reflect on the history and ongoing legacy of residential schools, honour Survivors and their families, and acknowledge that we live and work on stolen land.

Our work in regeneration continually reminds us of the importance of respecting the land and the relationships that sustain it. Indigenous Peoples have cared for these lands for generations, and there is much to learn from Indigenous knowledge and practices rooted in respect for the land.

As part of our commitment to learning and supporting the next generation, Greenflow Corp. is partnering with our distributor Agrotek to fund a bursary for Indigenous students at Simon Fraser University. Together, we are proud to support an opportunity for Indigenous students pursuing their education and building their futures.

We are grateful for the opportunity to support this initiative and to continue building relationships grounded in respect, learning, and reconciliation.

Good Ground Farm is committed to regenerative agriculture, and we’re proud to be part of it.

Mike, Nicole and their team have been steadily transforming the farm they began in 2017, moving from conventional poultry production toward a system built around healthy soil, biodiversity, natural farming practices and resilient land.

That shift began with pigs raised in the forest and a firsthand experience of the difference regenerative practices could make. Today, Good Ground Farm is putting those principles into practice through their livestock and market garden, with a focus on producing nourishing, delicious food while leaving the land better than they found it.

As one of the newest local farms putting 'Squid Juice' to work, we’re excited to support Good Ground Farm as they continue to build and refine their regenerative farming practices. We’re proud to be a small part of what they’re doing, and we can’t wait to see what comes next. 🌱

New markets. New partnerships. More opportunities to grow. 🌱

We’re excited to be working with GreenFlow Corp. to bring Squid Juice to new markets in Brazil and Saudi Arabia.

This partnership is about combining what we each do best and building the relationships needed to introduce innovative agricultural solutions to growers in new parts of the world.For Agrotek, it’s another important step in our international journey. We’ve been working hard to build connections in Brazil and Saudi Arabia, understand these markets and find the right partners to grow alongside us.

There is still plenty of work ahead, from registration and certification to distribution and market development, but we’re excited about what we can build together.

Healthy Soil Starts With Understanding the Whole System

Last week, farmers and soil-health practitioners gathered for an OSN event focused on biology, minerals and management, with a common goal: understanding what their soil needs and building better management practices around it.

Among them were dairy farmers Gordon Alblas and Doug Donkers, who have both been placing a greater focus on soil health and management over the past several years. Both used 'Squid Juice' this season and are happy with what they’re seeing so far. We’ll have more to share once harvest is complete.

The event also brought together the team at NaturAll Solutions, who work with farmers to develop more informed and tailored nutrient management programs. Their approach begins with understanding the farm’s mineralogy, then builds toward soil biology and refined nutrient management. 

This is the kind of work we love to see: farmers asking better questions about their soil, looking at the whole system and making management decisions based on what their land is telling them.

Did you see the 'Squid Juice article in Farm Show Magazine?

Our work with 'Squid Juice' was recently featured in Farm Show Magazine, highlighting how leftover calamari-processing byproducts are being repurposed into a sustainable agricultural input. The article explores the unique role of β-chitin in supporting plant health and resilience, along with what makes 'Squid Juice' different, including its water-soluble, bioavailable β-chitin and its versatility throughout the growing season, from germination to harvest.

It’s always exciting to see the story of 'Squid Juice' reaching more growers, and we’re grateful to Farm Show Magazine for sharing how we are supporting farmers across North America.
