Today, we pause to remember.🕊

April 28 marks the National Day of Mourning — a day to honour the workers who lost their lives, were injured, or became ill on the job.

According to the University of Regina’s 2025 report on work fatality and injury rates, 1,056 workers in Canada died from work-related causes in 2025 — including both traumatic incidents and occupational diseases.

Each number represents a person, a family, a future changed forever — a reminder that awareness, accountability, following procedures, wearing PPE, and addressing hazards all matter. Every. Single. Day.

Flags fly at half-mast, and we take a moment of silence — to reflect, to remember, and to hold space for those affected.🕯
Because every worker deserves to come home.❤️🫂

Check this out… this question came up when I was on a podcast👇🏼

🎙 Q: “Was that a challenge for you over the years, just finding essentially clothing or equipment that would fit?”
🎙 A: “Absolutely. It is a challenge for every women in the construction industry and in the industrial oil and gas industry. We have only ever had mens workwear to wear.”

For years, women in oil, gas, and construction industries were expected to wear men’s workwear — oversized coveralls, sleeves and pant legs rolled up, dealing with poor fit and real safety risks on the job.
⚠️Tripping hazards. Restricted movement. Gear that simply wasn’t designed for us.
And the answer we were given? “Suck it up and get to work.”
That doesn’t cut it anymore.
