Hi Everyone,
I wanted to introduce myself and our new business - SecureFarms. SF has 2 goals to start:
1. To help optimize efficiencies and record keeping on Prairie farms as they grow and inevitably become more complex.
2. To assist ag producers in developing a culture of safety on and around their operation to ensure everyone gets home safe at night, and the farm is not in harm’s way from a financial or legal point of view as OHS an WCB start to become a reality in agriculture.
I grew up on a mixed operation outside of Regina, and have had several careers and many experiences along the way. I’ve been helping friends on their farm a bit in the last couple of years, and one in particular asked me to build them a system to keep an accurate, precise, and easy to use record of their inputs for each and every field. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s easy to use, quite efficient, and provides useful outputs for your yield assessments, future planning, and accounting.
I’m aware of other farm management systems out there. Some are good, some are not so good. This was built to be simple, economical, easy to use, portable (desktop/laptop/tablet/phone), scalable, and it updates in real time - so what your fieldboss enters on his iPad or phone in the field is in your office desktop within seconds. What I’m most proud of is that the data entered into it is yours, and only yours. It’s only accessible to those who you grant permission to. I have a fair bit of experience with FieldView, and although it is a useful tool, I don’t fully believe that your data isn’t at risk of misuse.
I am working with a 12500ac operation at present, and would like to work with 2-3 more operations of any size as test cases before rolling things out fully. I will be extending introductory prices to those initial farms. Please drop a message if your are interested in moving from napkins and pocket notebooks to an efficient, portable, secure, and easy to use solution. The price will include training and some support on the system, and future support and customization will be available at an added cost.
From a safety POV, we are actively working on programs for on farm assessments such that suggestions can be made. Teaching sessions and round table discussions (virtual or in person) for owners and staff are also a possibility and training for new, inexperienced operators is in the works. Policy manual development (OHS is gonna want to see those…sadly) is likely to be available soon.
To be clear, I am not a true expert in safety, or efficiency, or computers, but I've seen and done a lot of things, and I have a tremendous set of critical thinking and problem solving skills, along with access to true experts in all of those fields.
I hope this message finds you all well, and safe, as harvest begins, and hope to hear from you soon via either messenger or WhatsApp.
Cheers!
JR
