The Danger of Running Someone Else’s Race
Have you ever looked at someone else’s life and wondered:
“Why am I not there yet?”
Someone gets the promotion.
Someone buys their first home.
Someone receives the approval they have been waiting for.
Someone reaches a milestone that you are still working toward.
And quietly, you begin to question your own journey.
But here is what we often forget:
We are comparing our behind-the-scenes to someone else’s highlight moment.
We do not see the struggles, sacrifices, delays, and challenges that shaped their path.
Every person carries a different starting point.
Different circumstances.
Different responsibilities.
Different timing.
This is especially true for those building a new life in another country.
One person’s journey may seem quick.
Another person’s journey may require more patience, more preparation, and more resilience.
But a different timeline does not mean a failed journey.
A longer road can still lead to a meaningful destination.
The waiting seasons are where we build the skills, patience, confidence, and strength we need for the next chapter.
Your worth is not measured by how quickly you arrive.
Success is not about reaching the finish line before everyone else.
It is about becoming the person who is ready when your opportunity comes.
