I found this little video of my six-year-old daughter buried in my photo library, and it stopped me in my tracks.
Watching it, I smiled, but I also felt a pang. It made me think about how she sees me, how I show up for her, and most importantly, how I want to.
Working from home can feel like a paradox. We’re there physically, but how often are we truly present?
It’s a challenge I think so many of us carry quietly, especially as mothers. Wanting to build something meaningful while also trying to be fully there for the people we love most.
I’m no exception.
Eclective was born in my home “office.” It came with me to soccer practice, on family vacations, and sat staring at me from the other end of the dinner table on far too many nights.
For two years, it was woven into our lives, with contractor calls, executive meetings, and voice-note to-do lists serving as the soundtrack to countless daycare commutes.
My daughter has seen me proud and determined, but she’s also seen me tired and stretched thin.
She’s heard me say “Just one more thing” and “I’ll be right there” more times than I’d like to count.
But here’s the part that gives me hope…
Since opening Eclective, I’ve felt a shift.
My work stays at work, and when I come home, I’m home.
Not because the ambition disappeared, but because I finally created space for both parts of myself to exist without constantly competing.
And this Mother’s Day, I just want to say to the women trying to hold it all together:
We see you.
And truthfully, we are you.
The mothers building businesses between school pickups. The women answering emails in parked cars before heading into dance class. The ones chasing dreams while also trying to stay present for the little moments that matter most.
It’s not easy.
But maybe none of us were ever meant to do it all alone.
Happy Mother’s Day to the women doing their best, loving hard, and carrying more than most people realize. 🤍
