As I continue building Still Standing Family Support Services, my focus is on creating accessible, practical support for individuals and families in rural northern BC who are navigating the legal system.

In many of our communities, there is a real gap between needing help and knowing how to access it. My work is centered on helping bridge that gap—offering guidance, organization, and support, while ensuring people are connected to appropriate legal and community resources.

As part of this process, I’m looking forward to connecting with RISE Women’s Legal Centre to better understand their services and how I can support clients in accessing them, particularly in rural and remote areas.

This is an important step in building something that is responsible, collaborative, and truly useful for the community.

Going to court can be an extremely stressful event. Survivors may be forced to to sit in a cold and uncomfortable area close to their abuser, for hours, while waiting for their matter to be called. In our new report, Rise is raising awareness about disparities across the province.

Still Standing was created to support individuals navigating high-conflict family situations, including separation, parenting disputes, and systems involvement.

I provide structured, practical support to help clients stay organized, informed, and grounded during difficult and often overwhelming processes.

Through years of personal and professional experience navigating these systems, it has become clear that individuals and families in rural communities often face a significant lack of accessible support services.

Many individuals are left trying to understand complex processes on their own, without the guidance needed to make informed decisions. This gap can have a direct impact on outcomes for families and is not in the best interests of children. Ensuring that parents are informed, supported, and able to effectively navigate these systems is a critical part of supporting the well-being of children.

Services include:

• Documentation organization and timeline building

• Court and affidavit preparation support (non-legal)

• Communication strategy and response planning

• Advocacy guidance and system navigation

• Support accessing legal services, community resources, and relevant agencies

• Support grounded in lived experience and professional understanding

This work is rooted in clarity, consistency, and accountability. The goal is to help individuals regain a sense of control, strengthen their position, and move forward with confidence.
