For the small business owners out there - what is your "why"?
I started Wendy Harris Virtual Assistant Solutions because I wanted out of rushing to get to the office by 8:30; and then watching for the clock to hit 4:30. I started my business because I wanted to be able to enjoy my coffee on the deck, make my own schedule and work from wherever I am. I wanted to be able to take off early on a nice day to go out on the boat, or out for lunch with a friend.
But I also started this company because I was helping a friend with administrative and team support in her homecare business - tasks that seem "simple" to me, aren't to everyone. I am still with this company 5 years later and one of the things I love is that I give her so much of her time back. She is my best friend, but I know I do that for all my clients truthfully.
I generally work with those Canadian women running health and wellness businesses, along with course creators and coaches/speakers. I align with their values and that is another reason to my why - to choose who I work with - to choose those who inspire me and who are doing good work!
Recently we were challenged by Cheyanne O'Driscol and Tammy Watson to share our why. These two women are leading some great discussions for female entrepreneurs-I highly recommend following them to get the scoop and join in the conversation.
