In a game like hockey, speed kills. My favourite quote which brings both speed and hockey together is: “A loose puck doesn’t know who is bigger, stronger, or drafted higher. A loose puck only knows who gets to it first!” Brilliant… And so true. When we talk about goaltending, speed also kills. Maybe even more so. The great goalies seem to move faster than the puck. No Captains, No Problems - A Minor Hockey Tradition in Need of Change
Got into a huge discussion at the rink last weekend regarding team captains. Thought I’d get your take on the practice. Here are my questions to you:

1) Why have captains in minor (youth) hockey?
2) Does having (or not having) captains help or hinder the team?
3) If you have captains, how do you select them?
